The Battle Pass can't be finished by casual players.
So, according too this post:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/95165/archive-player-balance#latest
it takes around 100 hours for someone too complete the battle pass without spending anything, which I didn't know until after I posted on that discussion. The OP says that it's a casual player only problem, but this is a problem for everyone. I think even some hardcore fans would have problems finishing it without spending some cash.
Using the argument of "It's cosmetics only, so who cares" doesn't change the fact it's a clear cash grab for casuals too fall into. Arguments for the battle pass are covered here by another User: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/749746#Comment_749746
Simply put, the required amount of Fragments needed should be reduced. It's not fair for a good portion of the community too be excluded simply because they don't have the time too commit too such a thing.

Looks like BHVR tried too hard to copy the Apex Legends pass lmao

The Battlepass is clearly designed to get you to buy it once for $10, then make you spend more just to complete it.
Just as planned.
34 -
If you have doubts you can finish it just play the free route and if you think the rewards you have reached are worth 1000 cells buy it.
23 -
I personally don't care about the serum for outfits they are for killers I don't even play
4 -
If you're a "hardcore" DbD player putting in crazy hours you'll be able to do the pass easily.
If its 111 hours for 348 fragments and all the archive challenges are 352 that means it'll be around 230 hours rounding up i believe.
Thats 3 or 4 hours of DbD a day completely ignoring the existence of challenges. Easily do-able by "Hardcore players" and streamers.
Your title though is correct this is a casual players problem not a problem for everyone.
That said changes should definitely be made so casual players stand a chance.
17 -
that's not including lobby wait times. might as well add 2 hours to your daily estimates

I honestly don't like BttlePasses, cause everything you get from them will always have the other players too -> so you (or me personally) won't feel 'special' when owning the skin, item or whatever. I don't know, when I played Fortnite or now am playing Apex the skins from these passes always feel meh cause everyone has them - that's why I don't buy these passes, I play DBD because I enjoy playing the game, I enjoyed it even when survivors had only their base outfits, soo yeah....I rather play, earn shards and buy myself some outfit or eventually buy an outfit for auric cells.
And to the casual players...I can play DBD for like hour or two a day which is fine to me, BUT during this time I can play like 3 matches because why? BECAUSE THE GOD DAMN MATCHMAKING!!! I'm just literally waiting for a match right now...- 10minutes passed and still no game found...THANK U SO MUCH for forcing players play a game during which they die by waiting
8 -
That doesn't really work because the core issue is still there. If someone is a casual player, and wants the cosmetics, they will need too put some serious time in, which they simply may not be able to do for multiple reasons. It's not fair they aren't given at least a chance simply because Life is more important.
3 -
I'm starting to believe the whole thing is just a test to see how many people will throw money at them.
14 -
I don't personally like them either because they always tell me "we need more money, so fall into our trap and give us money," but BHVR's was looking good until I learned it's even worse then things like Fortnite, because at least in those games you have a chance at earning everything by being casual.
3 -
Agreed, BHVR thinks we are just brainless sheep at this point if they think they can slip something like this in.
10 -
It depends what you mean by casual. If you mean people who start up the game once a week and play a couple of matches, I don't think it's really reasonable to expect that people like that ought to be able to max out The Rift.
100 hours in 70 days is really not an extraordinary amount, and is quite a reasonable goal in my mind for rewarding players who are reasonably well-invested in the game. It only becomes an issue at the point where it turns out that the time needed in practice is far more than the estimated 100 hours.
0 -
You will also deal with disconnects and other issues that hinder progress.
3 -
I wish I could get everything without having to play more than 10 minutes per day. My life and all.
It should be changed to accommodate me.
Not. Do without.
Why is a cash grab from casuals bad? Are they a victim class in the oppression Olympics?
Casuals come in dead last in all aspects of life. If you insist on being casual then accept others with more dedication come out ahead. Welcome to a meritocracy.

Casual IMO is someone who plays for 1-2 hours a day, every few days. I use too do this when I use too play Fortnite, and I could get too that max level of the battle pass with just this. It was close, but I could make it. I can't see someone doing the same with DBD.
5 -
Jesus chill a little my dude, no reason too be that dramatic. All I'm saying is that casual players should have the same chance too get all the rewards as a hardcore player.
7 -
They set it up where you specifically would have to choose between playing more thereby filling the queues or opening your wallets and paying for progress.
Casuals deserve nothing and should receive the same chance everyone else has to fail or achieve. Which is exactly what they are getting. You guys talk as if casuals do the community a favor. They rarely play, they rarely spend to keep the game running, yet they want a server to be available waiting for them when they get the urge.
Now to be clear I don't care if one is casual or not, hell at this point I'm casual, but then I don't have an undue sense of entitlement.
The BP is done and waiting for the release date. You think they are going back and changing it to accommodate you? Be serious. We both know they aren't. So what's the point?

DBD is a casual game  It has no professional Scene, probably will never have and no esports-aspects. Again you fail to argue Points that were made and instead create a strawman.
5 -
Well, in theory you would need to play a bit more than that, but not much. They have explicitly said that their goal is to make the Rift completable by someone who plays for about one hour a day. So if it turns out that it's much harder than that in practice, I hope they'll pay attention to that and make changes to address it.
6 -
How many days do we get to complete this? 90?
0 -
70
1 -
So it resets after 70 days and anything remaining we lose?
Sorry been out of the loop for a bit.

A: people can post what they want, if you don't want too read it, then don't, but being negative in the thread doesn't help the discussion at all.
B: Casuals are the bread and butter of BHVR, it's why they buff/nerf the game too the casuals.
C: only one being dramatic is you bud, just calm down and chill.

Everything but charms will be available in the shop at a later date, it simply saves some coin and gives you exclusive charms.
4 -
Yes you have 70 days to get as far into the rift as you can. If you don't finish it you can't earn them anymore.
Some things in the rifts will be added to the store later on and some things will stay exclusive and will be gone forever.
2 -
Ok cheers.
Been busy recently with work etc. Previously had a lot of grind time but not now.
It does seem like a lot of grinding for a few skins and some knick-knacks.
1 -
So basically this first battle pass if any of them is going to be the one you want to hit 70 on if you care about exclusive charms.
In a few years i imagine the ultra rare hallowed blight vial charm is going to be pretty rare to see.
1 -
I'm getting the impression the only people who are going to finish this pass are those resemblant of the Warcraft guy from South Park.

Honestly so? its not meant for casual players, its only a couple hours a day, and I know a lot of us will play 100 hours in 70 days easily.
If you play this game consistently, and its your main hobby/game, you should have no issue hitting it. If you don't play that much, well it isnt really for you. Its for those of us who unlocked every perk and P3ed everyone we wanted years ago, and obsessively consume everything dbd related we can.
6 -
So it's the cashgrab we all said it would be when we realised Bhvr were planning one after being asked our opinion on getting a battlepass in a survey?
Shock, horror.
It's horrific, though.
I play this game more than I do any other, and my chances of hitting the required hours are really low.
5 -
battlepasses are generally aimed at squeezing money out of CASUAL audiences, actually.
1 -
If I was unemployed or didn't have responsibilities or lacked other interests...I think the pass would be easily doable.
But as it stands, it's going to be tricky for me to complete it.
If you could buy the pass and complete it whenever you want at your leisure, it would be far more appealing.
6 -
Looking forward to the patch

As am I, But that doesn't change the fact the Battle Pass is a money pit for casual players.
4 -
History shows us if there's something new to the game it's going to either be expensive or a grind.
You think they'd seriously make it easy to complete? They offer you the chance to earn back your money with 1000 auric cells, That's to entice you. It's Designed to be hard to finish requiring you to dump 100 hours into the game to complete it or loose the $10. It's business, a win-win for the Devs either way.
0 -
Except according to the devs themselves, it's actually "designed" to be completable in 70-80 hours of gameplay, and therefore to be accessible to the average player. So either they miscalculated, or there's something we're missing, or they're straight-up lying, which I doubt because that would be a terrible business strategy.
4 -
It's probably somewhere in between.
It wouldn't make sense business wise If it was designed to be completed even by casual players with the offer to return the initial money spent, They still benefit that way but not nearly as much.
0 -
I don't know enough about their accounts or their business model to say whether it makes sense or not, and it's beside the point regardless. The fact is, that's literally exactly what they told us they were doing, so presumably it's what they've decided makes sense for them. Only problem is, it's apparently not working out in practice the way it did in theory.
1 -
I'm pretty casual with this game and my first thought wasn't "how dare it not take my schedule into consideration". If its not for you don't buy it, you know how many things I've missed out on in games over the years working? that's just life. This just feels like the result of "everyone gets a trophy" mentality."well its not my fault I didn't have enough time to practice like the other team so I deserve to feel victory too!" If you don't like it speak with your money and don't buy it.
Yeah I plan on buying it, its pretty cheap and I probably won't finish it but I'll earn some of my cells back plus some cool trinkets and you won't hear me crying about not having enough time.

The difference in fortnite and dbd is that all challenges are unlocked, without buying the battle pass. Meaning your not forced to buy the battle pass early like fortnite to unlock everything.
I'm more worried about the serum. If I've heard everything right we unlock the serum from the rift. I also think we only have a week or two after the event to spend them like last year. Which means you'll need to reach a certain level pretty early if you want the 6 free cosmetic pieces.
For casuals this battle pass will probably be tough to get everything. Especially if you can only do 1 challenge at a time.
2 -
I've looked through the challenges and most if not all of them can be (and select challenges have to be) done in 1 round. If you're somewhat decent enough you can likely get through these challenges in a short or at least reasonable amount of time. (Provided they remain the way they are in the PTB currently.)
1 -
Its made to borderline force you to spend money to buy the pass itself and its tiers. What did you expect? Customer-centric business decisions?
4 -
Idk, welcome to the battle pass system?
0 -
It's 100 hours IF you can do EVERY challenge. If you can't beat EVERY challenge it's way more than 100 hours.
The 100 hours estimate is assuming you have the skill to beat EVERY SINGLE challenge.
3 -
Well... yes. I'm not saying that completing the Rift should be easy, just that it should be achievable by a moderately skilled player in a reasonable amount of time. If someone could pick up the game on day 1 of the Rift release and breeze through to the end, then the challenges don't deserve to be called such.
1 -
Casuals are the reason the game still exists. Without us the playerbase isn't big enough for the game to survive. Every game dies when the casuals leave.
No life neets who play 8+ hrs a day are the minority.
4 -
If the pass wasn't for everyone it would be locked and unavailable to anyone who hasn't p3'd everyone or reached a certain number of hours in playtime.
The fact that a new player has access to it means BHVR made it for everyone and wants everyone to buy it.
Don't be stupid. You are a terrible marketer.
2 -
Mate I do have the time too complete the battle pass, my problem is that if the battle pass was meant for everyone, how come casual players won't have the same chance and are going to be forced too use money if they want everything? I'm not saying the battle pass has too give a chance too the dude who plays once or twice a week, but too someone who plays 1-2 hours a day every day should have the same chance too get everything as someone like Tru3 or Monto.
5 -
They never intended for everyone to be able to finish every battlepass track. If they did there would be no option to buy progress with money. It makes no sense to implement an option to sell something if you don't expect people to buy it.
