question to old dbd players
What is the most boring change you think happened in dbd ?
I've witnessed all the patches and updates since the pig DLC
I've seen alot of perk changes and add on changes
but the most funny and ridiculous change I've seen so far in dbd is the new instructions add on change live now in PTB
( you don't get skill checks while repairing with a toolbox) which now lasts for seconds LUL
I just wonder who the f cares about not getting skill checks for few seconds LUL
I mean unless youre smoking or drinking something and dont want to press space bar, you can still set it to mouse 5 or something LMFAO what is this ?? what an idea for an addon OH MA GAWD LUL

So I’ve been here since a couple weeks after the Freddy nerf, and imo the most boring uodate would be one of two things:
-Release of the Legion. Og legion was awful, the engine was bugged to all hell (killers literally went invisible and only their red stain was visible. Very fair), and it was a very stale and boring time.
-Release of The Archives. The challenges are cool, but losing out of events like Moonrise (which was my favourite in the game by far, oh my God it was AMAZING) just sucks so badly.

Truthfully, its the attitude of killer mains nowadays.
Having played since release I've seen killer get easier, survivor get harder. FULL STOP.
Infinites gone, vaulting/perk/map/pallet nerfs, bloodlust added, end game timer added, hatch close added. All this has made being killer easier and survivor harder since release.
2 escapes, 2 kills is the devs unit of metric. You don’t have to like that but it’s whats given the survivors all their nerks and all the killers current buffs.
You look at the SB vs. NOED debates that happend at release all those years ago. SB now is mediocre at best where as NOED is still a high tier perk.
Killers now are up around 70% kills due to the trajectory of the game and the devs metric system, unless you feel their metric system is bad, in which case they can undo all the changes I've just mentioned....
It's only been recently that killers have started getting push back from devs because the state of the game is disconnecting survivors who know a game is going to end in a 4k so why bother for 3k BP.
And what do we see? Thread after thread recently of killers whining. People talk about salty survivors alot in this forum but ignore the elephant in the room.

From a Survivor perspective, definitely the healing changes. Healing became slow and boring, making the meta more gen oriented. It was supposed to slow down the game, but for high level gameplay it actually made it faster since people don't heal.
From a Killer perspective, Legion rework. They were so damn fun to play as! The moonwalking cheese, downing Survivors with four (three) feral stabs, the sheer speed of Feral Frenzy, rushing in front of a Survivor then cancelling the power (which used to be a lot more fun with Old Legion) and even the comedic aspect of how their walking animation looked at 110% movement speed.
Old Legion effectively felt like playing a Survivor. IMO, the only non-stress Killer ever released. Yeah, yeah, some aspects needed a change, but not like this...not like the booring, slow, clunky M1 Killer they are now. tsk
Finally, from an U.I. perspective: know that little warning about game saving you get before loading the main menu? On PC it disappears pretty fast, no problem. But on PS4, it takes a while to disappear and finally let you click to load the menu, making it mildly infuriating and building boredom over time. Been a while since i switched from console to PC, so ignore this paragraph if its no longer a problem.

Most boring is them stopping doing events, double bp arent events, putting a lantern on a map isnt an event, wrapping lights round a hook isnt an event. Events were so good and broke up the usual daily routine.
Events, gone but not forgotten. Rip.
44 -
The Nurse rework. Having to stare at this cooldown, while the survivor gains ground on you gets boring real quick.
34 -
Probably the Legion rework. Yeah, the exploits needed to be fixed, but they became super frustrating to play. They're in an ok spot now, but miss penalties are brutal and the cool down could stand to be decreased a bit.

I would say for survivor the healing change was pretty dumb all it did was make generators the prime objective for survivors.
For killer i still will never let them live down the double stacking stun with pallets and flashlights it wont ever live down like who at behavior said wow this is a good idea.

Clown, clown sucks
2 -
Can't remember the exact patch. But what was changed, was that when you got pallet stunned/flash blinded in any part of the pickup animation you'd drop the survivor. They THANKFULLY removed it fast
5 -
The Legion rework.
I had by myself thought that some things needed to be nerfed by the Legion, but not on this way.
To this day is the rework a red flag for me that increases my anger from 0%-100% in less then a second.
Would I had have really said on this forums what I had thought about the rework and the people direct responseble for it - I would have been banned for my next 1.000 lifes (if we believe in such things) from the forums and all bhvr games ever made :).
To this day I had nothing see in dbd that was comparable with the fun of the pre patch Legion (if you had them play without addons).
Edit: But we should also see always the bright side in everything... Since then I play less dbd and have more time for other games^^.

The most boring thing added for myself was all the info for both sides. It feels like being held by the hand and being shown everything from knowing what the killer is using to too many visual notification perks.
It changed the game from a hunt and not knowing to being told where to go or what's in use.
23 -
I believe that was around the time the Emblem system came into place, I'm not sure though.
3 -
Free information, with the best example being Status Effects.
I like finding stuff out, and free information removes the need to do that.
17 -
The stats provided shouldnt really be looked at for balance purposes. That 70% you mention should be taken with a grain of salt, expecially now with DC punishments in place. The amount of ppl who suicide on first hook because they got downed first is going to skew data since it's just setting games up for a 3 v 1. Personally, I feel like it would be nice if swing factors like keys and moris were also factored into these results since they dont give an accurate depiction of a normal game. Many ppl like myself tend to just sit on a stockpile of ebony moris because apart from seeing the cool animation...they kinda kill the fun of the match. Others however like to use em as often as possible...
The reason I mentioned the DC punishments is due to the fact that the devs throw out games where someone DCed when it comes to stats, but with the punishments in place...those ppl are likely to just suicide on hook and have the 3 v 1 match included in the stats where they normally would be excluded.
10 -
I can understand this, but I feel there should be SOME indicator for when your being under the effect of a status. If the killer is running mindbreaker for example, I wanna know ahead of time to expect that short exhaustion when its time to sprintburst away. Things like Myers music playing when he hits T3 is a nice way of showcasing the exposed status without NEEDING the symbol for example.
2 -
Moonwalking legion.
I can't remember how many times I quitted the match just out of boredom.
2 -
Most boring thing to me was actually FIXED with a change, that being EGC. When you stomp a team to the point that the hatch didnt spawn for the last guy and they spend the next half hour stealthing around... between that and hatch standoffs. Glad EGC got rid of both of those.
13 -
I've played since Huntress release.
Boring change... It's a mixture. The systematic removal and nerfing of Meta perks (particularly on the killer side) is annoying.
Killer perk/ability is broken strong (legion)? Gets nerfed quick. Regular strong (Ruin. Nurse)? Nerfed eventually.
Survivor perk is broken strong (MoM, DS)? Gets nerfed quick. Regular strong (BT, DS, DH)? Part of the game now.
Don't get me wrong. I think some of these are balanced too. Like DH is balanced imo. But it's strong and counterable. So it's fair to me. But ruin was strong and counterable. But it was nerfed. I'm fine with new ruin. I like it even better. BUT! The principle. Of killers getting nerfed while survivors transition to the power role. Has made the game less fun to me. I just adapted by switching to survivor main lol
3 -
Killers now. They've nerfed some of them so bad, there unplayable at red rank. How many nurse mains are there now?
4 -
An indicator's fine.
Status Effects aren't indicators, they're the immediate answer to the mystery.
Yes: Eventually, you'll know everything.
Still, some of the fun for me was in not knowing.
5 -
Probably the healing nerf. When I started playing Huntress was coming out soon so not only was nurse everywhere everyone and their mother ran nurses calling.
Over time nurses is rarer and healing takes longer. So you just finish your gen before patching yourself up.
Used to be a lot riskier even if it was faster.
2 -
Removing flick from billy. Booooh partypooper
1 -
I miss actual events and Nurse.
4 -
So much of this information is completely out of touch with the game and inaccurate.
6 -
It wasn't a nerf. Legion's performance was about the same before and after the update. Which was too low, hence the later buff update to restore FF speed and vault speed.
3 -
I would have to say the ruin change. When you get 4 survivors focused on gens it is just a flat out joke anymore. And miss me with the "pressure gens"
3 -
I respect you Almo and I really dislike to contradict you, but a Legion can't today anymore in frenzy what a Legion could do before. Same goes for dw.
I know that he Legion had to suffer under 2 exploits to this time and I knew that at least 1 Legion addon was op, if you ask me 2-3 addons (Franks Mixtape for sure and imo also the green and purple knife addon).
...But!...
The rework has nerf/undone more as the exploits and op addons.
It is not the same fun anymore to play the Legion and as a player that has play the Legion today and in the past mainly without addons - I need to say I don't get it.
The Legion without addons was to pre patch times not op. The problem were the addons because they have taken out the weakspots of the Legion to that time.
I know that the Legion today has a better killrate and I don't doubt this for a second, but fun is not just getting a 4k, imo.
Fun can also be something different.
For me it was to wild stab on survs and to be super fast ->for a short amount of time<-.
You see on this description that the longer frenzy duration of the Legion today and the stuns in frenzy (missing hit, after frenzy) working against what was for me fun.
I also have not found it op that the Legion was able to stab-spam in frenzy, if we talk about a pre patch Legion without addons.
After my experience, you had hit a survivor 2 times regulary - sometimes 3 times*. That was not enough to down a survivor with dw.
The whole thing had only go complicated with the addons, because then the frenzy duration was longer, or the knife hits were stronger.
Don't take this text please to hard Almoe, it is just how I see it as a player who had know the Legion without addons to pre patch times and also today.
*Edit: Before the base frenzy duration of the Legion was over.

i guess this addon got changed like this to counter the new Gearhead perk that show you the gen where a survivor just got a good or great skillcheck after you got two hits as killer.
0 -
According to dev statistics, killrate was about 55-60%
Where did you get these 70%? Or did you mean at rank 20?
5 -
Boring as in the least impactful change? Probably the 50% bloodpoint bonus being added to beast of prey. Still a useless perk and the bloodpoints aren't even calculated after match so it's not even useful for farming builds. Still haven't seen it being run a single time since it was updated and that was quite a while ago.
3 -
Not an old player, but I'm gonna share anyways. Its the "rivalry" that's between killer mains and survivor mains.
4 -
I think the most boring change has to be the removal of unique events because of the rift/archives. These events while it could be unfair or more biased to one side or the other did change up game play which was very fun especially the lunar lanterns and the blight plants. I'm actually extremely disappointed that all future events will be just progression in the archives and tbh it would be no different if they just put those event items in the archives without calling it an event. future Event cosmetics will also loss their value because you don't have to do anything unique to get them, they will literally be either log in on this day/week or play long enough to get it in the rift.

I've been here since watching people play the Beta, and honestly the changes have been for the most part beneficial to the game. However, I honestly think dedicated servers were not completely ready upon release and should have had more time taken to work on them. The worst DLC that has happened was Darkness Among Us. The Legion in my opinion is the most annoying and worst killer in the game, I lost interest over the 3 month period until the next chapter was announced.
1 -
my lord. could you SCREAM survivor main any harder than what you do?
12 -
Freddy's original nerf after his first week is my number 1 as someone who played since release.
Endurings nerf to no longer effect D Strike is prolly my number 2.
Pigs psuedo nerfs to her traps would prolly be my number 3
The list can go on honestly.
6 -
Filling the game with x-ray vision.

Not really sure if I count as an old player, but for me it was the legion rework.
I used to main legion and he was by far the most fun killer to play as, I loved the stab stab stab gameplay but didnt abuse the moonwalk exploit because that was just cheap.
Yeah, he needed to get a change, but they just butchered him, they added nerfs on top of nerfs and he just became unberable to play
The buff he got in the spirit patch (at least for me it was a buff) made him way more fun, so there is that.
4 -
wow didn't expect this much interaction with the thread , thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts <3

definitely when they added legion. going against a moonwalking franks mixtape legion was the most boring thing in existence, my god
for the killer side though, there really hasnt been an extremely boring update, but ig id count the Oni chapter as one? he’s extremely clunky on console imo so ive never touched him
2 -
i don't usually play as survivor with items so it's fine to me

Where’s xboxes Sydney servers

For me it is literally Nurse's nerf
From a killer perspective, she becoming more boring to play simply because have to wait for her main source of movement and chase potential to come back has made her unfun and boring to play.
From a survivor perspective, she's no longer a threat to me and she's easily countered because her potential. Hell I even faced off with a Godlike Nurse and got bored simply because I could out run her blinks

Yet you are unable to counter a single point?

Introduction of the Emblem System
1 -
By boring do you mean getting outplayed?
2 -
When they removed any skill to get a flashlight or pallet save. When that patched launched that was the moment I lost faith in this game. The scary part was the people who made this game were the ones who thought it was a QoL update. Anyone who has put a decent amount of time into this game could have told them that was a terrible idea. Thank the entity they reversed that one.
1 -
That one patch that fixed the issue that caused survivors to unable to stun the killer if he was in the middle of the animation.
I loved being stunned while hooking a survivor of picking him up.

Right, but its not exactly disproving my points rather its just saying you cant take them at face value and its more nuanced.
On a side note, you're one of the few people that actually managed to reason and argue your point. Which is worth mentioning because its so rare in this place. Most arguments amount to 'nah ah'.
4 -
This post is pretty delusional. Survivors went from literally impossible to beat to having the game still heavily favor them even after tons of nerfs. Not to mention the introduction of all the 2nd chance perks and improvements to flashlights that have been seen.
