My proposed changes to Deathslinger
Deathslinger is in a pretty good spot at the moment, middle of the road balance. Despite this, I would love to seem some QoL changes to make him more fun to play and play against. I have came up with a few suggestions, not all changes are intended to go through if BHVR magically decided to read this post. All changes will be listed with a problem, and a proposed solution.
Changes:
• Problem: Deathslinger having a 32m terror radius while still being 4.4 m/s. While we shouldn't make him 4.6 m/s to keep him in line with other ranged killers, he needs some compensation.
Solution: Make his terror radius 24m again, but also add a slight lullaby to 48m (or 32m). This would make him still able to get the drop on survivors and use M&A again, but not a better stealth killer than wraith like before his nerf a while ago. The lullaby would be a slight tune similar to Trickster (Ex: piano keys, chain rattling, banjo, etc.) but not as loud as Huntress
•Problem: Deathslinger quite similar to Trickster, and other lower tier killers has little to no map pressure, He is a 1v1 killer by design and suffers because of it. We shouldn't make him OP with teleportation or something, just a change to give him some pressure.
Solution: Change the mend upon successful spears to 'lodged spears'. The spears would be a debuff on survivors who get shot by Deathslinger, either successful hit or broken chain. The spear prevents survivors from healing to full, and extra bleeding, but can be ignored entirely. (Could also hinder a slight percentage?) The spear could be removed after a long animation, and would be automatically removed upon being hooked. The 'lodged spears' would add some pressure to just shooting survivors and not pursuing a chase with them.
•Problem: No counter play in chase. Despite having a slower ADS time, it's still very easy to zone a survivor with your gun. This makes Deathslinger still slow to play but also to play against.
Solution: Make Deathslinger's ADS time slightly faster to make him feel better to play. Also give a very obvious audio cue (similar to Huntress) when he ADS's. This would make him more interactive but also more fun to play.
•Problem: The Deathslinger is bald.
Solution: Give us a skin with Caleb (Deathslinger) having a full head of hair. Very easy because BHVR loves to make skins to make money.

Also, give him an iri add on that changed the chained spear into an actual bullet that can hit from across the map, but make it take 3-4 times longer to reload. It would encourage a sniping playstyle while also rewarding accuracy

Oh I meant the lodged spear from his chain gun. The chain always snaps and the spear/hook/projectile just always disappears. My change just lets the chain break upon a successful hit but the projectile stays. (although I do realize the spear always comes back to the gun, so they'd have to make a new animation for a new one spawning in)

these are not QOL changes these are balance changes
QOL change would be like removing the stupid sensitivity modifier when you ads

I've thought about very similar addons, not quite across the map but one that would just instantly guarantee the hit/down. But a sniper Deathslinger would be awesome. My second iri addon idea would be to have two shots in the chamber but an also increased reload speed

Currently maining him but I think slinger is overrated. Most content creators put him in the high b tier but i just don't see it myself. Got tons of counterplay and engaging interactions (super fun in my opinion to verse but frustrating to play as at times)
My main problem with playing slinger is you can hit a shot and get nothing from it.
●Survivor pre drop a pallet u hit them! and u can't pull them around most of the loops before the chain breaks. (without the prison chain add on)
● U narrowly hit a survivor from a far position vaulting a window and the chain start breaking fast.
● U reeling a survivor in and they get stuck on a few Tires, a single tree, small rock, and sometimes rarely thin air.
●Lastly, my favorite one! You hit a survivor and another survivor stands in front of the chain. Break before you hit either.
Making the chain stronger would kill the survivors counter play but hitting a shot on an injured survivor to get nothing feels bad.

Don't forget that his Reeling Speed addons don't even work at all =D
they've been broken after the changes and bhvr hasn't even bothered to fix them nor acouple other addons..
Bhvr still likes huntress more than slinger tbh..

Also ngl I kinda want that banjo lullaby.

I love the ideas. I don’t even think the lullaby is necessary though. Definitely needs an addon pass too. I’d personally make his guns hit box a little more forgiving and maybe increase the range a tad.

Terror radius: you pretty much have to run monitor on him in my opinion other wise they can shift w him to hell.
map pressure: 110 killer and u can't make up for it in aura reading like the huntress to snipe. Your range only got 18 meters so u even Down quickly or lose.
zoning survivor: While a survivor is injury he pretty good but when they not his zoning do very little in my opinion. It better taking a hit and fleeing the area half the time than getting zone into a m1 and a follow up shot. Hit or miss a smarter survivor will just risk the spear shot and will just leave while u recover from your attack and than the time wasted reloading. The poor man huntress in every way nearly.
The best thing about slinger is his ability to tunnel off hook

This is all valid criticism. I would have suggested making the chain stronger, but like you said that would kill counterplay. Perhaps just making it break slower behind walls? Or depending on the material or loop?
Also I would just say fix loop/ structure hitboxes but that fix pertains to all killers so

Unfortunately he's among the list of forgotten killers (Nemesis, Hag, Michael, Twins, Pyramid Head, etc)
Really wish they'd stop looking a kill rates for which killer to change. Although they must not do that cause Blight hasn't received a nerf pretty much since ever.

Yeah but currently he's a ranged killer and has been treated worse than the other 2 (3 if you count Wesker). So just bringing him in line with the others would do him some justice at least. M&A Deathslinger was pretty rough tho.
I wish the chain strength would scale with range, otherwise the range increase would be pointless.

Well yeah I was kind of assuming they’d increase the strength based on range.
I actually don’t think there was any issue with M&A DS at all. Wasn’t that big of a deal.

Map pressure is a buzzword that people throw around without really knowing what it means. Slinger is better than huntress RN and it is not debatable

Having an effect that slows someone down or delays them outside of your presence is literally map pressure, which is what my change would add.
Secondly, in what world is slinger better than Huntress? He has a MUCH shorter range, has to reload more often, smaller projectile hitbox (harder to aim), weaker addons, can only hit very slowly and the worst part of it all, even if you spear a survivor it doesn't guarantee a hit due to the chain breaking like melted butter.
So I'm still curious how you think Deathslinger is in a better state than Huntress strength wise?

Primarily due to him having a 40m terror radius, its kinda like a ranged killers lullaby. So I see him as a hybrid of sorts, but I would understand why people wouldn't consider him ranged.

Slinger in general needs acouple QoL fixes for his addons, adjustments too..
They prob won't ever change em...

He is stronger in chase, doesnt rely on rng to reload, combos well with more perks, has slowdown built into his kit, projectile is much harder to dodge, better at zoning. People like to say huntress is better or 'has map pressure' due to cross maps, but any decent survivor has enough awareness to avoid them

Cross maps are not map pressure. Decent survivors have awareness to dodge them. Slinger gets way more hits than huntress, which is gonna be insane in the next patch. Only killers that have more map pressure than usual are ones with high mobility, aka not huntress

Is map pressure not one's ability to delay/disrupt the Survivors' efficiency?
Pig and Pinhead create map pressure by introducing a second objective. Doctor creates map pressure by incapacitating Survivors. Myers, GF, and Wraith create map pressure simply by having stealth--Survivors are forced to take time healing or risk handing the Killer an easy down.
Deathslinger is often cited as lacking map pressure because nothing about his kit disrupts the Survivors' efficiency. Despite his strength in the 1v1, he doesn't down Survivors any faster than other Killers with chase powers. A good Deathslinger will zone a Survivor into a lose/lose scenario, but that still takes considerable amount of time.
