I still haven't heard a good argument against basekit Kindred
Comments

Ingame-Commandos like "I go for the rescue", "Im in chase", "Ill stick on gen" etc. via short-messages would close the gab between Solo and SWF much better.
Kindred is not needed as Basekit.
DBDMobile has some nice little features which would improve the mothergame hugely.

Somewhat unrelated, but I forgot how insanely stupid pallet vacuums used to be in this game. You could be on the other side of the map and still get sucked to the other side of shack pallet LOL

The Killer aura part should be added to Kinship. That way solo players know the perk is in action
2 -
then better camp to not be rude :)

Our prayers are answered. They already announced we will get a fov slider later on. They said probably around next year I believe
1 -
Cap, got a link?

knowing BHVR it will come with a permanent hinderance status the higher your fov goes and haste the lower it goes 💀

You think everything is bad. I get it’s a joke but cmon

I'm neutral on the topic, but I did want to mention that killers having the ability to go Undetectable doesn't really do anything against Kindred. The Wraith needs to cloak again, the Pig needs to crouch, Ghostface can't immediately activate his Night Shroud without running the risk of being revealed by the hooked survivor, etc. That second or two where you can still see the killer's aura is more than enough to tell which direction they're going, which is really all you need if you're working on a generator and see the killer's coming your way next. Hypothetically, a stealthy killer could fake going one direction, go Undetectable, and then book it in another direction. But seeing as how there's no way to tell a survivor is running this perk as the killer - and just the fact that people probably don't think of Kindred when they consider perks to counteract - this would likely end up being a waste of time for a killer trying to actually make this work.

Sadly....
Most of my games go this way and I have to camp.... (I main pig...)
0 -
I'm sorry about that.
would it improve in any way if we nerfed pig again?
0 -
Everything improves if we nerf the pig
0 -
Not really....
But i think the nightmare has been overperforming as of late.

if you run Kindred in SoloQ you already know this won´t inspire your mates to safe you most of the time :)
I don't know if i would want it, with the new Surivor HUD they already added much information and people still don't get their priorities right ( of course the injured one on dead hook should go for the save...). Mates, that pay attention to the game progress and use their brains would be something, i would appreciate more.
On the other hand i fear the game gets stale and staler with more and more features integrated basekit, it means lesser element of surprise and variety overall, (most) people would run more meta cause there is no reason not to and you have all four slots available without sacrificing much.
And most important, if the goal is to close the gap between SWF and SoloQ they will also have to buff the Killerrooster accordingly to match the changed point of balance.

Kindred as a perk isn't used to make your teammates save you or to push them to make good decisions, though.
You run Kindred so that you can make decisions about whether to leave your generator or what have you when a teammate is hooked. If you don't run Kindred you have to guess, and hope against hope that you have semi-competent teammates so you can trust the survivor HUD- because if you don't, the Meg you thought let go of her gen to go save is actually crouching in a corner and the hooked teammate hits stage 2.
It's about enabling decision making in players who want to put in that effort, it isn't about the kind of players that would ignore it in the first place anyway.
(There'd also be more variety, not less, because you don't have to sacrifice a perk slot for necessary information.)

AWESOME

I worry most about the fact that, if the killer isn't camping, you can see which way he is going after he hooks a survivor. That signals who should most easily go for the unhook.
IMO it's too much information for the survivors to have.
1 -
i want that ingame so badly

I don't know about you, but I've never felt the need to run Kindred after the HUD icons came out.
They give me more than enough contextual information to judge whether or not I need to make the save. The only thing lacking is whether or not the killer is camping, and the killers aura would definitely be too much information for basekit.
At best they should give a HUD indication of when the killer is within 16m, which will hopefully come with the anti-camping measures.
2 -
I thought I wouldn't, but then I realised that the survivor HUD only really helps you there if you can trust your teammates, which is the kind of game that you only somewhat needed Kindred for even before the HUD was added. It does nothing to help ensure that you can make decisions instead of guessing whenever your teammates aren't obviously sensible.
That's not just a game-feel thing, either. It's going to be very hard to balance survivor as a whole if even good and aware players are at risk of a game falling apart around them because they made the wrong guess about whether their teammate is actually doing the thing it would make sense for them to do. You may never be able to get solo queue teams to the same level of cohesion and coordination as a SWF, but you necessarily must make sure the survivors that want to try are able to react to poor play on their teammate's part in crucial moments like while a survivor is hooked. Obviously, there's some degree of poor play you're never going to be aware of without constant aura reading, and that'd obviously be too strong, but it's a pretty basic callout that we're discussing here and nothing too crazy.
To be more specific, basekit Kindred only covers for the basic callout of "I'm going to get the save", at least insofar as it lets you know when that's not the case. That's the kind of information the game has to be balanced around the survivors sharing, and the HUD only achieves that some of the time.
0 -
that's when we do the international "the killer is close" signal. and have the survivor on hook keep starting and stoping the ymca dance.
3 -
well, thats what the HUD is for to me, that is enough in most situations, i personally don t need "perfected" information, it makes the game stale for me
(And yes i play enough SoloQ to know the dangers of a crouching Meg :D)
to the last part according variety, one can hope for the best but i highly doubt this will be the outcome, seeing the variety developing after new meta combos are introduced like MFT and Hope

Here's a valid argument against it:
Kindred gives an aura reading of the killer. That's 100% accurate picture perfect information. Exactly where the killer is, exactly which direction he's facing, exactly which direction he's going, and exactly what action he's taking if there's an animation with it.
Even in an SWF, that 100% accurate information is not easy to relay to your team. "He's over by the tractor!" Okay, which side of it? Which end of it is he heading towards? Is he locked in an animation? If the killer has broken line of sight, then the person on hook wouldn't be able to tell you EXACTLY where other than he is simply nearby. An aura read gives ALL of that information. In essence, basekit Kindred would actually provide much more information than if it was simply SWF comms.
1 -
the killer left me and is going to main. checked a locker. passing tractor clockwise.
I don't even disagree that giving the killer aura for free is too much, but it's easy information to give on a mic.

Would you be in favour of only the other half of Kindred being basekit, then? That is, to be fair, typically what a lot of people mean when they say to make the perk basekit, as far as I can tell.
1 -
as a killer biased 50/50 players, 100% agree
0 -
True. Time to nerf iri brush
0 -
Kindred should definitely be basekit because it isn't making SWF overpowered (They ALREADY have discord which is miles ahead of kindred anyway) and it'll be a helpful addition to solo-queue who do need it.
I will say something that may ruffle feathers but I feel many killer players aren't as good as they'd like to think; cause they'll stomp solo-queue players who have little to no information but then get bullied by 4-man SWFs with discord coms. Base kit Kindred is a helpful way to close the gap between Solo queue and SWF; SWF already have kindred and more (Kindred only show the killer it can't compare to discord where I can say you two stay on the gen, you come for the save/organizing).
I just don't see a downside of bringing it base kit; and killer players complaining are just ones who want to continue to stomp solo queue players and then cry about SWFs.
0 -
Not 100% true; don't underestimate good SWFs' ability to be better than Kindred + form a plan.
0 -
Just like I still havent read a good argument against pre nerfed corrupt intervention basekit..
3 -
stating SoloQ has little to no information is a hot take for me ... there is enough information that helps you in most situations if you pay attention to your surroundings (crows, cornmovement, shadows, sounds etc.) and use the HUD informations
Yes as a new player i have used kindred and i fell like this is where it helps most ... nowadays i don't use it anymore and i don't miss it.
I seldom run auraperks in general wether its on survivor or killer cause this forces me to rely on and develop my gamesense and this can't for example not be taken away from me by countermeasures from the other side.
Maybe basekit kindred without killeraura would help newer players, that is the valid point i would see to it.

While it'd be nice, I don't think it's terribly necessary after the portrait action update. If one person is on a gen and one person's being chased, it's fair to assume the last person is going for the rescue.

We have icons telling us when and what the killer is doing, as well as gen progress and when to go for the exit switch. Survivors don't need any more help
0 -
Give us the FOV slider so I can run 4 perks on blight, and you can have your kindred for all I care.
