The Adrenaline nerf is yet another slap in the face to the SoloQ and I am exhausted of this
The trend of deactivating perks / mechanics when the endgame comes must come to an end.
We've reached the point of denying the use of a perk that was DESIGNED TO WORK ONLY IN ENDGAME WITH ONLY 1 USE (so it has to be above average strength) for a reason I struggle to understand.
The survivor plays 90% of the game with 3 perks, manages to reach the endgame but has the misfortune of being chased and hooked just moments before the last generator is repaired, and what is the reward? We don't activate your perk because no, it's your fault if you get knocked down at the end, now you're on your own.
And don't tell me "eh but do the save first and then do the gen, nothing changes" because no, the scenario is completely different.
It's obvious that if you are part of a SwF this change has less impact (it's not like before anyway, the nerf is felt here too) because with communication you can try to get around this, but why is the largest player pool in this game always sidelined? Why are we always the fifth wheel?
I've seen a lot of negative feedbacks but despite these, the perk was still nerfed and sent live in this condition, I'm fine that it doesn't counter Freddy anymore and I'm also fine that the speed boost is reduced to 3s but why even disable a perk in endgame when it can be only used in endgame?
50/50 player here (SoloQ enjoyer and Nemesis main), so take your moral elsewhere.

It's really not a big deal at all. Still a good perk and people are still going to run it, because the chance that you will be the guy on the hook when all gens pop is less than 1/4 accounting for the likelihood that no one will be on the hook.
24 -
Still a completely uncalled for nerf. The perk wont see nearly as much play. Bad or not bad, this is a stupid nerf.
29 -
Honesty, I don't care about the chances, it's a deeper question.
You are literally denying the use of a perk that is only supposed to activate in endgame for NO reason, what kind of mentality is this?5 -
I feel like the argument that solo q always gets hit harder is being used for any change nowadays that is bad for survivor.
However, I do agree that the nerf to Adrenaline was very unnecessary.
5 -
Guess we'll see how this nerf effects its pick rate ;3

lol Killers must be buzzing right now. I would too lol. I'd akin this to Pop only working on the last gen. Man I'd froth lol
2 -
Yeah I didn't get the argument about it healing off hook being OP, because basekit BT already exists. you would have had to hit them twice anyway
2 -
It made zero sense for it to make you full health off hook because you’re in the dying state on hook. It should have never worked that way to begin with. They do need to buff solo queue but not by making crappy perks. We need like basekit Bond and/or Kindred and a way to know our teammates’ loadouts.
2 -
I didn’t like that change either. It wouldn’t be so bad if we could see eachothers perks but that will probably be in 2031. I use hope now since you don’t get punished for being hooked as the gen pops. Maybe they will change hope in the future but I pray they don’t
1 -
Unhook first, pop gen later. Done.
Now Adrenaline still does pretty much the same thing as before. The HUD tells you exactly how far the gens are and it's not hard to just wait for 10 seconds before you finish it.
6 -
Really? I'd compare it to NOED revealing its own location.
10 -
Unneccessary nerf for sure it deserves to be strong perk as it's only works in endgame.
3 -
Decisive Strike and Adrenaline is still good. No need to be melodramatic.
9 -
No, Adrenaline is now balanced and more healthy. Its still pretty good.
14 -
Adrenaline is still one of the best perks in the game.
Time will prove this statement correct.
6 -
Until the nurse/blight/Billy/wesker/oni/spirit/etc. sprints over to the final gen with pop and suddenly your situation goes from survivor favored to killer favored, especially if 1 survivor has already been sacrificed. Survivors don't always get hooked on the opposite side of the map as the last gen with the most progress. More often than not, it's right next to it.
4 -
Except that a Killer will always get NOED to activate. A Survivor does not get Adrenaline to activate every game.
18 -
It's still a really good perk though
2 -
basekit bond and kindred 😂 what has this game come to
1 -
Every need to be dramatic lol. Its how the environment of DBD works. Things get nerffed, things get dramatic, things settle and its on to repeat it again.
Stop trying to disrupt the community rituals lol.

You ain't gonna argue with the fact, that most of people are playing in discord, because most of random players are acting stupidly, and in 4 man squad adrenaline is op af, don't you?
Deserved nerf and still viable perk. His main thing wasn't speed, it was insta heal for 4 players which is more than enough to easily escape if gates are opened. Unless you have no hands.
0 -
Yeah, nobody has time to do that.
That's the equivalent of saying, "If you don't like PR and PGTW, just don't get hooked."
Theoretically possible.
17 -
Most people do not play in a 4-man Discord SWF.
That's simply false.
13 -
Balanced = You can't use the perk.
Ok man8 -
It definitely shouldn't wake you up against Freddy.
It probably could've had the health on hook removed; didn't make sense cuz of BT making it two health states anyway, but whatever.
The speed boost being nerfed shows me this is more about making a gesture than actually having issues with how the perk is performing.
9 -
Or No'Ed. You speak like there are no counters at all. Ugh..
0 -
Did everyone just use adrenaline to heal off hook? The only times I faced it is when they pop a gen in my face and get fully healed.
3 -
I'm guessing Adren will go from a 22% pick rate all the way down to a 21% pick rate
7 -
"Oh no. The killer ran across the map and my team had to finish the last gen. Now my Adrenaline won't work, which I definitely needed because the killer is nowhere near me and hiding or healing somewhere else is definitely not an option."
In that situation you don't need Adrenaline. You just lay low and make sure they don't find you again.
6 -
People are acting like the heal off hook is some big issue that comes up all the time. The strongest aspect of Adrenaline, a free instant heal, still exists. Not to mention survivors can just 99% the final gen, get the unhook, and then pop the gen.
7 -
I agree with this 100%. But this statement is more of a SWF coordination than a public lobby. Regardless, this will eventually blow over like everything else until the next big complaint.
Its not a big nerf, but still substantial. Also not needed. If this isn't 'much of a problem.' then the nerf itself wasn't needed. Usual BHVR philosophy
2 -
I mean bones can be done preventing it from even coming into play, so no, not "always."
Hell, it can still pop on a totem right next to the last gen that gets done/next to an exit gate and get cleansed after activating but before coming into play.
3 -
Maybe show perks of other survivors, that would be wonderful… Then it's not an issue about lack of information, just bad players.
1 -
First of all, calling it "Bones" because of an unfunny parody of a pretty disgusting person is…meh.
Second - this will never happen. Survivors dont have time to cleanse 5 Totems nowadays. And even then, the Killer got probably more value out of NOED than anything else since Survivors were dumb enough to decide to cleanse 5 Dull Totems.
7 -
I was not aware calling totems bones was suddenly looked down upon? If thats now the case, please educate me.
Your perception of "never happening" is, again, false. I listed a perfect example of how it could happen even if totems are ignored for the entire match. If a totem suddenly lights at the end of the match, you don't even need to wait for it to give itself an aura.
I get your attitude that people aren't generally going to do all 5 totems to prevent it from spawning, but even then its unpopular, not impossible.

And this is the best example of DBD logic. When you don't have a counter, don't admit it, make something silly up!
I love all you guys lol.

Counter counter argument, if you don't like PR, don't let the Killer get a hook.

Don't think we can discuss it here. A certain content creator who popularized the saying was involved in controversy semi-recently.
Theoretically, yes, the totem could spawn right next to a Survivor. It could also spawn right next to someone on hook. I don't think that's a great argument either way, sometimes RNG is just on your side.
I don't think it's even possible to get people to do five totems based purely on a time perspective.
Not taking into account ANYTHING other than cleansing time, that's seventy seconds. Not counting travel time, Killer interrupting, other tasks taking priority etc etc. It is simply not reasonable to expect Survivor to have that much time to spare in today's meta.

Understand the candor, thanks for letting me know. Its been a saying for years that I've seen, and didn't know by the reaction if there was some type of recent inappropriate/cancellation/drama/etc situation.
My point was that it was possible for NOED to get zero value before being cleansed, which is why I originally compared the adrenaline changes to it. They have more parity now after both of their most recent nerfs (than they did in the past.)

"Lay low" when nowhere to hide/bbq/old ultimate weapon existed.
Comedy.

Adrenaline is still great.

I'd say it's pretty called for. Adren is a high risk high reward perk. It kinda defeats the purpose if you can come off the hook full health and a sprint burst. I'm sure it doesn't take much coordination even in solo q to pop the last gen when no one is hooked unless other people really NEED the adrenaline mid chase.
1 -
Let's put it this way: the current adrenaline change means that the killer has to do exactly zero extra effort to completely counter the perk. There's no change in activity or game play that they need to do, just do their objective and hook a survivor and boom, adrenaline is countered.
NOED requires, as Pulsar mentioned, a minimum of 70 seconds of extra time in the survivors' part to counter it.
To even be close to comparable, NOED would have to be countered by the survivors doing nothing extra other than their objective. So basically if NOED simply didn't work on survivors who were touching a gen as the gates powered, for example.
That's comparable, and equally as ridiculous as the current adrenaline nerf. (The wake up thing is the only justifiable nerf here).
3 -
I don't even use Adrenaline and I feel the same. You've handicapped yourself for the entirety of the game purely for endgame value, risky when you consider getting to endgame as survivor these days is hard enough. I feel like that's a pretty full on activation requirement. Just my 2 cents.
6 -
As opposed to the old awkward counterplay of dropping the survivor after the last gen pops and chasing them down (again,) or slugging them and waiting for the last gen to pop so they can immediately smack them back down. I get your point but the previous "work" to counter the perk was completely against the game's flow at best, and extremely awkward at worst.
Also it doesn't require a minimum of 70 seconds, since it can be cleared on a single totem, which again, can be done before the killer gets any value from the perk. It requires a minimum of 70 seconds to not show up at all, which is an important distinction.
3 -
This is why I don't play much anymore. Survivor gets nerfed and killer gets buffed every patch. Survivor is starting to feel like you're just a plaything for a killer on a power trip. My opinion is that balance is extremely important in a pvp game, instead of winning or losing just because of the role you picked.
2 -
I really don’t see how the changes have killed Adren. You still get a free heal + speedboost. All that changed there is the duration.
Is it really the change that it no longer procs off hook?5 -
I was not unaware that the wake up portion of Adrenaline was so vital and crucial against an oppressive Killer such as Freddy. That nerf was probably the least of everyone's concerns.
2 -
Getting healed immediately off the hook at endgame to ensure a free escape was insanely broken. This nerf was well-deserved and a long time coming. The only people whining about this are those who got spoiled with undeserved escapes for years and years.
