In-Game Demonstrations For When Killer Reworks Go Live
Seeing as the Skull Merchant is getting some sort of changes in the future, it reminded me of the Onion Ring situation, where nobody knew what she did, due to her being changed constantly. We have bits of text in the loading screen, but that's not enough to teach survivors how a killer plays.
My suggestion is that when a rework goes live, have a quick, clear, and concise demonstration of what has changed when the game launches. Most players won't read a wall of text, but they might watch a thirty second video, that briefly covers the changes.
It might go some ways to helping more casual survivors understand what is changing, which should give more accurate information on killer balancing.

Even better, there should be short tutorials (video) for every killer.
Display power, say counter play, try to summarize strengths/weaknesses etc.
I don't think it would be that difficult for majority of killers and would help noobies a lot.6 -
I still dont know what Onryo does, like she comes at you and I have to grab I tape I guess.
This is one of my majorest problems with BHVR, its how they almost INSIST of trying to avoid writing to players how you counterplay, like in loading screen. "Nononono, you get no help. cause we want you to have an experience of discovery."
Please BHVR there is like 40 Killers in this game, I cant contain it all.

In the supposed changes one of the points they highlighted was simplifying SkullMerchents power as there was so many layers and status effects tied in that it was just a confusing mess. Especially for survivors.
They summed it up nicely. Drone go brr, and thats about all you need to understand.

the in game demonstration you're asking for is the PTB, this is a non-committal way of portraying an idea without dedicating resources to it.

Rainbow Six Siege has something like this. Short video clips that show how each operator's gadget works that you can see when selecting them. It's a good feature.

But most players don't play or even watch the PTB. Every time a killer gets reworked, there are a large amount of players that don't understand the changes. As a result, survivors do poorly and weak killers get high kill rates. The reason I suggested this is because if the average player were more informed, BHVR would have an easier time balancing killers, and we wouldn't end up with killers getting reworked because players can't figure out the counterplay.

Yeah, I think League of legends have basically same thing, where you can see animation of each power.
They could even bring "Demo" mode Dota has, where you could try ANY killer against 1/2 bots on small map.

or just keep going against her till you understand how she works. it's how you get better at the game

That would be great if that seemed to work. But we have a game where Trapper has a balanced kill rate. It's been years, but new players don't seem to figuring out the game fast enough. The devs might as well add more resources to help speed up the process.

That'd be really nice to have, actually. Place a couple of Survivor bots on a tutorial-style map and let you get a feel for each killer's power before you buy them.

Oh right, because that approach worked so well so far…

we don't really do that since anything new comes by people call for nerfs immediately

@TieBreaker You might actually get your wish tomorrow.
