Please Do Something About Killer Item Spawns Being Moved by Chests.

The killer's power is the number one factor that affects how the map is played, and if that is so, why do chests get the priority? They carry much less meaning then everything else.

Please fix this its ann9ying and more with the aniversary clos3 i want to play springtrap without an issue like this

please bhvr fix this

Good thing is as Sadako, you can see 3 movies at the same time,
Jokes aside, killer item 1º chest and other stuff 2º seems like obvious, dont understand how is this a thing.

Simply allowing killer powers to spawn first then spawning chests would completely fix this issue. It wouldn't affect other killers without props on the map, but it would fix the issue. This would streamline gameplay for survivors as well, especially playing against The Plague and Springtrap.

It's such a ridiculous issue with the easiest of fixes. Much hope Behaviour sees this and actually changes things 🤞

As a fairly new Xeno player and someone who likes FNAF, this needs to be fixed. It’s a bad look for the new FNAF players to get matches where doors don’t spawn in useable locations because of a chest offering. In addition to the fact that Springtrap can be revealed through walls in cams this makes the game look unpolished and the dev team look shortsighted, which I know is not the case. Please update these outdated mechanics to better match the modern version of the game that your dev team has lovingly constructed. At the very least make generators have multiple item spawns enough for both a chest and killer item.

I am a fairly newer player in DbD (since December 2024), and seeing Springtrap and how his whole kit works makes me excited to play him when he drops properly out of PTB. However, seeing this Killer Item Spawning issuereally makes me not want to try him out, because I have seen countless Anniversary Offerings that add in more chests per Offering. I sincerely hope you consider this an actual issue, and attempt to fix this as soon as possible, considering what is planned with the current DbD Roadmap.
1 -
I main Sadako and would appreciate this.
The code should be also very easy to fix. Every map already has your list of potential chest spawns, so you just check what killer it is, spawn their items FIRST, and THEN you can fill in the rest of the gaps randomly with chests.

agreeeeed

Oh hell yeah! this wouldn't only help killers, but also survivors, because this also affects the spawn of counter item's, like Nemesis chests or Singularities printers
(I'm a Killer main btw. Just want to give behavior a good reason to fix it)

As someone who plans on playing spring trap during the anniversary I really want his map power to be useful to all sides during the event but with the spawn locations as they are & the increased chests I worry he will effectively lose that aspect of his kit. & I hope the year 9 offering doesn't get nerfed to no longer bring chests to "fix" the problem because it will be the perfect time to use niche perks like horder or moment of glory that otherwise wouldn't be useful in a build.

I completely and utterly agree and think the chest spawning thing is bad and they need to change it to make it more fair to teh killers. killers powers are completely nullified by this poor design decision to allow coins to eradicate any good teleport spawns.

This issue needs to be addressed immediately.
1 -
This is going to be detrimental to BHVR if they don't fix it. With the influx of new players from the fnaf chapter, if their favorite killer cannot even come close to winning because of an offering I'm sure they will all immediately leave the game and stop playing. We all know how much BHVR loves their money right? Well, if this remains an issue they won't make much.
1 -
plz bhvr not spingtap too😭
1 -
BHVR, please please please take this seriously!
1 -
Bhvr please look at this problem because this is such an issue and I would really love to see this addressed

as someone who wants to play alien and springtrap, the fact that there power can be neutered by an offering is just a poor design decision and i hope behavior changes/fixes this issue

Bless you for this

Taking the time to finally stop by and boost this thread as I promised earlier today.
I main Sadako. I also want to play Xenomorph and Springtrap on the side whenever I want some extra spice to my playtime. This absolutely affects me and I'm tired of chest spawns messing up with my matches. I can't keep affording to run cut coin with how rare they are to stock up on.
At this point, I think that killer item spawns should be fixed locations or something. At the very least, have them spawn before the chests so that priority locations are secured and the placements seem logical enough instead of having my killer items all bundled up in the corner of the map.
For a game currently undergoing "Operation Health", this QoL change is no less than a requirement. Especially if your biggest and most hyped chapter is also going to be affected by this game design oversight that negatively impacts both killer and survivors.
3 -
This will easily cost the game new FNAF players, especially once "bully squads" realize it'll affect new players trying out SpringTrap. Just making it so killer items spawn before chests should fix this. Please this has been a problem for long enough.
2 -
I didn't know about this stuff till just a bit ago, and after some further digging, I agree with this. I was really excited to pay some money for Springtrap since I've been waiting for this for years, and his default build and ability works with how I like to play, but what's the point in paying money for something that's going to be fairly pointless to use. I might as well just save my money for something else.
3 -
After trying out Springtrap and realizing how big of an issue this is i will not consider buying other killers like Sadako or the Xenomorph until this issue is resolved. Its really sad because i wanted to get them but I guess i will just wait until something is done.
1 -
I 100% agree that something NEEDS to be done about this issue sooner rather than later.
0 -
I've been playing the game for a few years now, and this issue has tainted the enjoyment I receive while playing Dead by Daylight. There are dozens of chest spawn locations in any given map. Why not dedicated killer spawns?
0 -
Several killers being almost powerless based on chance, while the fix is fairly simple, such as making killer objects have priority on spawn, is honestly ridiculous. Please look into this.
3 -
Agreed with the whole situation. Love playing Sadako — she's super fun. Wanted to learn Xeno, but due to recent changes and this bug, getting into learning them made me drop them, since I can do similar things with Huntress or Unknown with way more reliable results. Can't wait for some people who never played Sadako or Xeno to suddenly see the issue and join this post just because they came to play Springtrap or face them 24/7 once he goes live — and then realize how much of an issue this is, and how it makes the doors useless especially if they nerf Springtrap's stealth.

I’m going to be playing spring trap a lot when he releases, I also am a sadako enjoyer, and like the turret counterplay Xenomorph has. This issue makes all of them less enjoyable to play as, and in my case for Xenomorph, against as well

i might just start running those on singu

Its unfortunate that the Devs can't see that this issue also affects survivors. The decision, I have no doubt, to set things up this way was meant to put the screws to killers, because we know the devs don't play killer at all. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your view, it actually hurts survivors too. This setup empowers killers like Xenomorph, who's killer spawn items are meant to counterplay him. Same with Lich, and even Pig. Imagine that, they BUFFED Pig.
I take their original affirmation of this not being a bug as a sign these devs probably don't have more than a few years left in them. They can't think ahead, they're so bent on making changes to hurt killers like making basically all survivor offerings hidden because THEY suck at their own game. They don't understand that making things more miserable and worse for killers is what is going to kill their game.2 -
BHVR, we are asking you as devoted fans of your game and of our favorite killers to swap the priorities of chests and killers powers, it would make the experience on said killers way better and more fun for everyone, and that way, you can both have the chests but also not butcher some killer powers.
2 -
yea it honestly it makes no sense why killer items don't take priority over chests/survivor items since chests being away from gens help survivors because killers are less likely to patrol those areas
2 -
BHVR please fix this for all killers.

As a Sadako player these chest affecting TV spawns has been pushing me away from wanting to play as her as it does really hinder how much coverage she and the other chest spawn based killers are. Sadako already isn't in a great place as of recent with most of her addons doing nothing for most of her playstyles/being too easy for players hoard tapes while also leaving her with very little to do as her TV's are always on a longer cooldown then it takes to do a gen usually.
With Fnaf just two weeks out i would really like BHVR to address the chest spawns/secret offerings in general. I would very much prefer having Killer items like the TV/Control stations/Doors have more priority to spawning near gens then chest. It make this even worse then Dredge on some maps due to lockers being less dense in some maps then others. At least the lockers can't have random spawns that can't be altered in anyway.
Again Please BHVR we're just making some rather humble request here to listen to the people who care about the game on both sides.1 -
Thank you for adding more killers effected by this!
I'd also like to ask if a Plague player and a Nightmare player could come onto this thread and inform if her fountains and his clocks respectively are also effected by this, as those are the only other killers with props for themselves. With confirmation, we could potentially compile the full list of effected killers and detail how this can hurt both sides.

Plague and Freddy's items are affect by chest spawns but the issue with them is that they dont rely solely on their items to do their main gimmick. Plagues can still infect and down players without getting the Vile purge. Freddy has more means to put people back to sleep. if anything the clocks being spread out only causes issues for Survivors since it means they'll have to go across the map/fail a skillcheck to wake upm

A lot of people are mentioning killers like Plague Sadako and Xeno, but this can also negatively effect killers like Nemesis Wesker and Singularity. Increasing chest spawns almost always pushes Killer spawns further towards the map edges, which will always be far more favorable for Survivors. I highly doubt it'll get changed through, BHVR are too busy victimizing Survivors to ever acknowledge that a Killer can be bullied by such a terrible system.
1 -
i get Singularity would be an issue but for nem/wesker their items are limited. they will eventually run out of them so their spawns dont matter as much.

The fact that a killer item is not guaranteed to spawn within 16 meters of a generator and not guaranteed to spawn on the same floor on maps like RPD isn't right. It's possible to have your only method of pressure to sit uselessly on the edges of the map. Chests should not take priority over killer items. Otherwise the killers that rely on them are just M1 killers with no power.
0 -
Please look into this devs; as others have said it should be an easy fix to just make killer items spawn first and then chests.

In a world where the strongest killers tend to be able to freely use their power without an associated item (Nurse, Billy, Blight, Ghoul, Dracula, Spirit, Pyramid Head, Artist, Twins), the fact that so many mid to low tier killers have a special item that can get countered by chest offerings is quite depressing. Consider changing this design.
I understand that the design team believes that chests are a fun and engaging design, but this is not the way to increase the prominence of the chest mechanic in DBD. If the design team wants chests to be strong, then items which are found in chests should always be a buffed variant to encourage chest searching. Instead, searching chests is barely worth the effort even with perks and even when the chests are right on top of the gens.

This is a problem for game balance that affects killer and survivor experiences alike tremendously. Because of more killers even in the future get this kind of treatment of powers. Then it could become a real problem, especially if the mechanic is not fixed now. Because this forces not just killers to have severely nerfed powers, but also hurts survivors trying to use in built mechanics of sed power. This not only makes it more unfun for the killer who is severely nerfed. But the survivors who like to have variation and different mechanics in matches. But because the mechanics are so out of the way because of this design it not only hurts the enjoyment of the variation in killer mechanics. But incetivises lazier gameplay of just sticking on the generators or healing constantly. Additionally it seems like such an easy fix that it's wild that this has just been left as is by the dev team. A killer should not be hindered directly by offerings. Especially offerings that specifically target a few killers in particular. Additionally, it makes no sense from a design perspective to make the chests get priority when spawning in. As they are far in a way less interactive, in terms of people actually using them, and also just in how useful they really are. Especially when compared to the utility or security of the things like the Springtrap doors and Xenomorph Turrets. Because to be perfectly honest many players simply won't be opening chests nearly as much as interacting with these powers. This is a huge issue from a a viewpoint of trying to create a healthy game. Because if more killers with this power are added. Or simply people just more wise up to this terrible mechanic then it lets the toxic members of the community essentially run wild to make the game more boring for survivors, while also bullying the killer for no other reason then to get slightly better odds of winning. Being able to escape and win in DBD typically should not be about RNG or at least not a exit gate escape typically. (I get hatch kind of needs to be there.) Which is another reason I am a proponent that exit gates should be in fixed locations on maps. Because having the variation that some spawn almost right next to each other it feels like makes it really easy for campy killers to just cycle between the two. Which stalls the game heavily and makes it unfun. But bringing it back to the issue at hand. Getting this even just from the standpoint of survivors just throwing in more chests non maliciously, a killer shouldn't be instantly nerfed for just bad luck. Not to mention it really doesn't make sense why so many offerings are secret now for survivors. I get it can lead to toxic reactions post match but we have always had a toxicity problem with certain people in the community. But chest offerings? Do they really need to be secret? If it's for this mechanic that's even a more terrible design choice. As it directly further needs killers. Not knowing how badly they make ght be nerfed. (I still agree they shouldn't dodge lobbies. But still can you blame them when they are more likely to just lose out of RNG?) So quite simply, just give killer powers priority over chests. It makes no logical sense why this is not the case already. I know the DBD team wants to make the game as healthy as possible. If this isn't fixed now. This will be a bigger problem in the future.

Here's hoping this issue gets properly addressed this time. This is an issue that affects some of my favorite killers and it really degrades from the experience when i have to deal with my power being gutted because of offerings or poor map design.
-1 -
I agree. The fact that this affects 3 killers that you have to buy with actual money, and that they havent changed this, is insulting. And it affects a new killer too. I don't understand why BHVR just doesnt fix some of these issues with the game, its like they dont care.

It does matter for Nemesis, as the infection does technically fulfill the role of a third health state when interacting with the tentacle whip. This hampers survivor gameplay as it would make them go farther and risk more to reset back to a healthy, safe state.
In a similar vein to the above paragraph, this effects survivor gameplay. Survivors will have a harder time becoming cleansed, having to go farther out of the way to remove the broken state, and while survivors can wake each other up to counter Nightmare's power, it makes it more difficult in endgame scenarios, where survivors are less likely to be able to fail skill checks (as survivors tend to become more stealthy when other players begin to die, meaning they interact less with healing skill checks and generators), and, obviously, when there's less survivors, there's less people who can wake you up as well.
2 -
I hope this gets addressed, I was excited for Springtrap but if his power is this badly affected then I'll hold off hoping this gets fixed
1 -
Just adding my voice to the list of concerned ones. I've watched this issue for some time now, and it would be really good if it could seriously be addressed <3

This is just completely unfair to Killers that use this mechanic, it is now three Killers that use this mechanic of spawning teleporters like this. It puts Dredge locker spawns being bad on some maps to absolute shame because it's every single map!
A Killer should not have to bring a specific item to prevent their power being taken away. Survivors should not be able to pre-counter a Killer's power from the word go like this; I can't pre-counter Survivor items as Killer! Chests should never take priority over a Killer's props.
At the same time this bug which affects several Killers can ruin the Survivor experience. I know if some random brings a Tarnished Coin in and we get Singularity, Plague, Pig, Vecna, Nightmare, Wesker, Nemesis, Sadako, or Xenomorph - well good luck engaging in their mechanics fairly. Good luck getting your RBT off in time, that spray you may need against Uroboros, any sort of the magic items for Vecna, an EMP, finding a Fountain to cleanse. They're scattered to the four winds because the spawns are completely messed up because some guy had to spawn one extra chest, and I know the Killers aren't having a fun time either because half their kit is gone (except I guess maybe Nemesis because nobody uses his Vaccines seriously anyway since being infected with T-Virus does nothing except make you blue). GGs, I might as well not play at all because I don't even get to engage with the Killers' props in a meaningful way, meaning I can't even counter Killers the way they're supposed to be countered.
How does Springtrap, one of the most anticipated Killers ever, have this bug (which also affects Sadako, Nightmare, Plague, Xenomorph, Pig, Wesker, Singularity, Vecna, AND Nemesis) but also have the Bots Can Reveal Through Walls bug (which also affects Ghostface and Unknown)? And at the same time, Springtrap also has the weakness Sadako and Dredge have, that being that his mobility option - the doors - can be blocked from him at any given time if Survivors are smart. However unlike those two Killers, Springtrap is not a 110% speed Killer and actually suffers more from having a lack of map mobility than them. When people realize they can manipulate maps against him, manipulate chests against him, manipulate any possible DC bots in a round against him, AND counter his doors easily, the Killer will be considered quite unfun to play, very easy to bully, and somewhat weak - perhaps even weaker than Dredge and Sadako, which is a weird statement for a new Killer that people are calling "B to A tier" but here we are.
This is a huge issue for Springtrap, and all those issues he suffers from are already big issues for the other Killers they affect. Offerings and bots should not counter Killers, maps should also not hard-counter Killers, it's completely unfair and a totally one-sided issue that has nothing equivalent to how bad it feels on Survivor side at all. My hope is these are the types of "longstanding glitches" that the second phase of the health update will address, because they all badly need to be fixed, especially this one. It ruins the game experience for Killers affected by unfair glitches like these.
This cannot and should not be an intentional feature of this game. I don't care how it gets fixed. Just fix it. Now.
