With Diminishing Returns coming to the game next update, will Champion of Light be updated?
Hi there! A while ago, there was a PTB where we removed haste and hindered stacking, which led to some perks that often relied on being stacked with other haste perks being tweaked, and some of those tweaks even made it to the next live update like Dark Theory going from 2% to 3%, even though haste and hindered stacking being removed did not end up being pushed through. Champion of Light was one of these perks that was tweaked in the PTB to make it so that basekit you got the same effect as you would have if you ran it with Fixated, which is a popular combo because it lets you use a flashlight at almost running speed. This was reverted in the next update, but with Diminishing Returns coming to the game this combo won't be as effective, so I was wondering if there were plans to update Champion of Light again to that one PTB buff iteration as well as maybe some other similar perks? Thanks! :)

There's no plans to change any perks at the release of Diminishing Returns, we will be doing a lot of assessing before we make changes as we fully expect things to need adjusting when the feature is live.

I think they only need to buff it by +10% so when you run them together Fixated goes from 20% to 10%.

thank you for your response Mandy! Looking forward to this update, I think it’s a great step for the health and longevity of the game :>

If the system goes live as is, I agree Champion of Light should be buffed to 60%. This would retain the current Fixated combo (as Fixated would get halved resulting in 70% overall which is the same as current) and although I've been critical of most haste stacking for a while now, this particular combo was not something that needed a nerf by any means.

My thoughts exactly. Unchecked haste and hindered stacking has been an ongoing problem and was going to get worse as more perks get added to the game, so I'm really glad about this update but I feel like this was one of the more innocent instances.

Does that mean we will see no perk changes next patch? It's been months since we had a bigger change to perks and the current metagame is just full of problematic perks such as Shoulder the Burden, Resurgence, Vigil, many exhaustion perks, or ft toolboxes with Hyperfocus + Stake Out or Built To Last. All of these perks are not affected by the upcoming Diminishing Return feature.

Champion doesn't need buffs. That's why they revert the buffs from first PTB. It's top tier perk that screams for nerf more than for buff.

Thats what it means yes.
They want to go at this slow step by step and take time for buffs and nerves and adjustments which is the right way to go in my opinion.
But this means we will have time frames where it feels like nothing happened like now cause the dr system doesn't hit the meta and the perks that are aren't buffed. And this will mean we will have time frames where only some things are adjusted and things feel kinda off.
It can happen that we temporarily have only survivor perks buffed and not killer perks yet or just a couple of perks are buffed and the meta is not touched yet.
This could at times feel unbalanced which sucks but I don't think just testing stuff on the PTB will be enough data and stuff needs to be tested separately first and then together. That's what they should have done with anti tunnel and anti slug but they wanted everything at once both features and the perk changes all tested at once by the relatively small number of ptb testers.
But we have to be loud and direct and hold bhvr to higher standards this time and demand they don't strictly hold onto their normal update cycle

So if The Spreadsheet doesn't say these perks need help, they won't get changed. That bodes well.

they reverted the buffs from PTB because they ended up not going through with removing haste and hindered stacking, otherwise I'm 99% sure they would've kept them

yeah, Diminishing Returns isn't supposed to be a fix to the current meta, it's more of a perk design health update if anything that allows them to adjust and make perks without worrying too much about potential crazy combos with other ones. Then they can focus more on meta changes.

I don't believe we would have kept them no, the PTB showed how problematic it would be when faster so I would not expect any buff to that perk.
