10.0 Patchnotes are kinda lacking
I really wanted to see some perk changes after diminishing returns was introduced.
Can we hope for perk changes soon?

Given that BHVR plans things out 1 year at a time, I wouldn't expect to see perk changes based on diminishing returns until the end of the year.

There are no plans to have live design changes during new content release - history has shown us that this is more problematic in getting feedback on new content as well as the changes.

Makes sense if you think about it, you want everyone's attention on the new content first so any glaring things can be ironed out ahead of release.
I've always seen the mid-chapter patches as the 'live balance' updates. Though sometimes they do squeeze in a few balance tweaks into big release patches. Probably just how dev time works.

i hoped for something more special for their 10th anniversary chapter.
Its again ‘just’ a killer, a survivor, with their 3 perks and not even a map? And nothing else, some new base feature or mechanic, like a new surv item or such?
Hopefully something interesting will be announced for the upcoming year regarding new content thats not new killer, surv and way too many new perks added to the pile every 3 months

Yay a month and a half longer of the same stuff we've been seeing for the past year. What happened to the big perk meta shifts to liven things up? Im tired of seeing the same set of 12 on both sides I get hyperfocus is a goated perk but seeing it for a year plus gets old. Lol. Or sprint burst and lithe. Pain res and lethal. Take your pick ig.

can we at least see more changes then during non-content updates? the last mid-chapter had very minimum changes so if this is the new standard going forward, the game is going to get incredibly stale quickly which is a shameful way to start going into the tenth year. Also the lack of this being clarified earlier really seemed like setting people up for disappointment

just for clarification - there will be no live design changes whenever new content (i guess new killer and/or survivor or maps?) are added in an update?
This seems a bit often as we have seen more and more characters added even in midchapter updates

Does this mean a mid-chapter patch with DLC would not have any live design changes since it would be new content release?

Thank you for answer!
Can we expect post-diminishing returns perk changes in the near future?
Some kind of big overhaul just like 6.1.0?

yeah but like
the non new content releases are scarcely timed out between new content chapters, and these balance changes are so direly wanted because there was not enough changes in the last not new content release. there surely has to be a way to address balance concerns that we as a community were told were going to be looked at without having to wait two ptb cycles in their entirity….
if this is about the krasues ptb and how she released very strong because players were concerned with the other content in the PTB; the lack of feedback for krasue was not solely because there were balance changes at all, its that there were so many game altering balance changes at once that if the PTB went live without critique, many (genuinely not great!) changes would get through in some form. the krasue was an extremely complex killer to fully break down at the time, and concerns were elsewhere. it should not be an excuse to just…. ignore perks hurt by diminishing returns on a PTB that is entirely bugfixes, 1 killer, and survivor perks that are not coming to live next release.
also this said i actually do somewhat like having a smaller chapters perks tested a bit before their full release like this. i hope the feedback from them can be taken, applied to the next ptb, and we can test again.

no that would be different, we're looking at killers specifically

yeah exactly that

please don’t let this be the case going forward. i understand new killers are very important to balance and get the necessary feedback but for those who don’t indulge in the new content, there is nothing new for them. even a couple perk tweaks (not reworks) could make a huge difference since there’s at least something else coming in the update other than the new content. also slight number tweaks for killers like in 9.6.0 should come with new content releases since those aren’t massive enough changes to take away the attention of the new killer.
gameplay features i 100% agree should be more targeted towards mid-chapters because of the anti tunnel and anti slug systems that took away the important feedback for the Krasue last year.

I guess more reason to look forward to the mid chapter for more QoL changes!

Annnnnnnnd this is why I warned everyone that diminishing returns was a terrible idea. All it did was nerf a roster of already meh/niche perks and the promised buffs to them aren't going to come until the heat death of the universe.

thank you for the clarifying but I hope that also means midchapters will have more changes than the recent ones. The last one (Darkest Dungeon) was so underwhelming with some little killer tweaks and even when we gave you the feedback that these killers need more, there came nothing besides an additional Doctor buff. We had no big metashift for ages which feels so bad because the current metagame is rather boring and stale due to strong and easy perks dominating it which results in fun and balance perks feels so weak. Same for killers, so many killers feel either weak, clunky, or miserable to play and need some buffs or bigger changes to feel better to play as and against.

By history has shown it's problematic, do you mean mainly the ptb krasue patch and the one after with those massive changes to pretty much everything? (9.2.0 and 9.4.0 I believe)

So are yall looking for more perk updates than 2/4 every midchapter since you're not doing them with content drops anymore? Stuff more significant than like .001% faster shocks on doctor?
For the record this is a horribly misguided idea. Not everyone plays with the new stuff. Personally I don't like projectile killers so I'm not gonna pick up Jason. So for folks like me there's really not anything new. It's gonna make the game feel even more stagnant than before.

But ya'll weren't making big changes on the mid patches either. Or around events. Or during holidays. Or now for killer releases. This is just a hidden announcement that you're reducing the number of balance patches when they were already at basically none. There hasn't been a serious balance pass this entire year so far, just Blight and Trickster getting the softest of reworks, and this is an announcement that there won't be one until July at earliest. And this is after the usual "no updates December," so eight months at minimum for literally ANY perks being touched, let alone killers or add-ons.
Just Diminishing Returns. Which everybody loved and had the promise of updates to come… just not for months. And months.

so if i dont play jason then i have nothing new to do? well, hoping that event is the best thing in the world to make up for the complete lack of changes making it stale

I do get not wanting the situation around Krasue's PTB to ever happen again, (and that "just number changes" have still sometimes resulted in extremely oppressive Perks) but I think there is a happy medium to be found where a few balance ideas are slipped in alongside content updates without needing to overshadow them.
In particular, I think concentrating balance changes into fewer, bigger updates rather than spreading them out might raise the risk of Krasue's situation happening again. It just won't overshadow a Killer release when it happens.

still got new killer and survivor perks and may play against Jason
And there is some other minor stuff, the killer power description in Matches for example and some more aura customization options, and bug fixes
also, i don’t think its been confirmed that the 10.0.0 Patch will have no further additions to the PTB?-2 -
Then can we have diminishing returns ran back until until enough perks get buffed to justify it? Why are these patches not planned out more efficiently?
That said, we're not asking for anything game changing like the anti-tunnel stuff, which is what I'm assuming you're referring to. Buffing the numbers on a bunch of the weaker perks for both sides would have been something. Not even providing that is inexcusable, in my opinion.
I get that the anti-tunnel stuff was a mess, but BHVR is really throwing the baby out with the bathwater here and souring what should be a massive celebration for the community.

a new killer, sometimes a survivor and their perks is the bare minimum the game should be providing, but again if people do not buy that for whatever reason, all they get is a new killer or survivor perks to learn to play against, which is frankly not enough to sustain a player base for the next 6 weeks in hopes that a mid-chapter has something new. even with that, there is no certainty available to these players that the changes to come that will effect them are even substantial enough to freshen up gameplay.
if the most we can expect for July is a further update to diminishing returns, bare bones killer tweaks and a handful of meaningless perk changes as we got last update, either the game is going to slowly burn itself out or they have to plan something groundbreaking that isn't a change like capping effect bonuses and calling it worthy of a proper update.
the killer descriptions in matches and new aura customisations are nice, but along with seeing teammates perks in game, to only be seeing these things added a decade into the game's life rather than after only a year is laughable.
the bug fixes are the one thing i have to commend them for in 2026 as it seems in one patch note there is more being fixed than three 2025 updates, but many of these also seem to be called fixed and then still happen in game. as for this ptb? I can't imagine they would leave stuff out to throw into a live release untested when the patch notes were already very empty

I can understand not doing changes on killer powers, but you could still update perks alongside new content. It's already bringing new perks to the table, so you'll be looking for feedback on perks anyways. Plus, it would let you see how some perks interact with the new content so you can change them accordingly.

That's probably because of that Krasue PTB, which introduced live design changes that fundamentally alter core gameplay mechanics (anti-tunneling and anti-slugging) but releasing new content without any balance adjustments risks stagnating the meta, which can lead to boredom and burnout among your veteran player base.
As a veteran player, I can say that the game desperately needs consistent balance adjustments to keep the gameplay fresh and healthy. For long-term players, major live design updates and game health are more important than just receiving new content.
To achieve this, I suggest the following approach for your patch cadence:
- New Content Releases: Focus on some numerical tweaks for killers and perks, alongside universally welcomed Quality-of-Life (QoL) features. These are safe, non-controversial updates that the community agrees the game needs, and they should accompany every new content release to prevent the meta from feeling stagnant.
- Mid-Chapter Updates: Reserve core, game-changing design overhauls (like the recent anti-tunneling/slugging changes in the Krasue PTB) exclusively for mid-chapters.
