A long time ago, someone on the forums mentioned how they'd like to see (I think) a Survivor version of Wraith. And that got my wheels turning, especially about Spirit/Rin. It got me thinking about how something like this could be a twist of fate. Sliding doors. Shadow shelves. Alternate realities. I couldn't stop mulling over the idea.

I thought about how cool it would be if BHVR put out installations of a Twist of Fate Chapter, where existing Survivors become Killers and Killers become Survivors. I'll tag my original post about this below. I brought up this idea a few different times (so the conversation has spilled onto different posts and really expanded) and people had a lot of great ideas. I'm still hoping BHVR will do a twist of fate chapter for many of the original survivors/killers! I think the idea has so much potential.

Original Post I made about this:

    **NOT MY ORIGINAL IDEA***

A while back, another forum member and I were discussing dream chapter ideas. The forum member brought up a fantastic idea.

It's about a twist of fate.

What if BHVR had chapters where certain Killers had become Survivors instead of Killers?

Hold your horses. I'm not saying Spirit is removed from the game. I'm saying that Rin is added to the game as a Survivor. Here's how it would work. In an alternate reality, at the moment Rin was dying, the Entity took her and made her into a Survivor--dooming her to repeat her trauma. How's that for a new level of horror! The Entity is such a malevolent being that it wants Survivors to re-live their darkest moments and literally face off against their darkest selves. It's a very nuanced and mature lore, to be honest. Rin facing Spirit is a literal manifestation of the "sliding doors" theory/the butterfly effect. The idea that our entire lives could've gone differently if only we had made one different decision.

Personally, I would love to see Spirit as a Survivor. I've always felt bad for her and thought her lore was among the best. Her cosmetics would be incredible, too, and simply seeing Rin and Spirit in the same game would be so cool. On that note, I think having a similar cosmetic for both Rin and Spirit that incorporates a butterfly would be a nice homage to the "butterfly" effect idea.

**This idea is also applicable for other characters, but I'd love for it to start with Spirit and Rin.**

*** If that forum member still uses the forums and sees this, I hope you comment/make your own post about it. You might have come up with some more concrete ideas by now and I'd love for you to share them. ***

Yh there's a certain masochistic part of me that loves arguing with those tribal killer mains who've clearly played the game for like a month getting nothing but 4ks against other new players and then hit high mmr and get stomped by good surv teams then come to the forums to complain how survuvor sided the game is. I'm going to miss that.

I'm seeing this live as we speak over in the Halloween community; the more things change, the more they stay the same. it's not the same on reddit though with all the randomly generated names

I loved all the ragebaits, the trolls and the obviously biased, entitled mains of both sides. It gives me something to see people so completely match one side of the spectrum of opinionated.

Either you have a strong opinion or none at all. Thats fascinating for me.

I'm not sure why I'm being coy given that the forums are closing so getting a warning won't mean much.

But I'll say a particular thread, on a particular topic regarding the genders of killers and how that correlated with pickrates and power levels, and how this ended up in a discussion about how certain groups of people seek to be dominated by certain groups of other people.

I did not agree with a word of what I was reading, but it was so out there that I break down laughing every single time it is referenced or brought up.

My favorite moment was during my petition for Shanoa and Simon Belmont legendary skins, the first time ive ever had a forum mod respond to my post in years:

This was the most bizarre discussion I've had here. "Insider experience".

My favorite thing about the forum isn't one particular moment but all the people I've met, talked to on discord, and play with. Super grateful for everyone.

There was a one about Silent Hill F recently, how a Hinako player was super happy to have something to remember their loved one by. Reminds me why I'm so grateful for all the crossovers and representation you do in the end.

It's also why I love so many licenses being added to the game, reminds me of so many good memories I've had over the years.

I'm sad I won't really have a place like this to give feedback to the game I love anymore.

I just liked being able to engage in discussions about the game's design, whether it be changes that affect it or things like oversights and mis-applications. Being able to talk about the game in a more under the hood manner always feels like the most constructive way to discuss ways to improve it, as the dev team can then take those discussions and test out everyone's theories and hypotheses. I like to think that many of the good changes that were discussed on the forums that made it into the game were positive contributions we all made, even if some of them ended up monkey paw'd or half baked compared to what was discussed.

Not really a me memory, just a general observation. I know a lot of users fought really hard for some very positive changes, even if some of them aren't even allowed to post here anymore. Salute to those who know.

This was probably the craziest post I ever made and the traction it got was well beyond what I expected. All Things Wicked was one of the best times to be a DBD fan, I have so many found memories interacting with people or playing the game from around then.

Man, what a wild ride these forums could be at times.

On my second thread ever, all the way back when Ghostface first made into the PTB (which was the weakest version of any killer ever), I made a thread talking about how part of his problem was in issues all stealth killers had, and one of them was about them being affected by survivor aura-reading perks, a weakness that made so old Object of Obsession completely ruined their power. By the end of it, I suggested for Pig and Ghostface to get the same aura reading immunity that TI Myers had back then.

To my surprise, I got a reply from a Dev in the same day! It was this comment from @Janick right here:

    image.png

This may seem small, but I was really happy to get a confirmation that not only my feedback was heard, but also that there were plans to fix the issue (which ended up being the Undetectable status effect, which gave all stealth killers a way of countering aura reading). It showed to me that, even though the game had many issues back then, the devs were communicating with players and taking into consideration what we said to make it better.

And to make that moment even happier, some forum users shared their positive responses to this, including myself:

In a community were the devs get attacked so often, I will always remember this as one of the wholesome moments.

Probably Sluzzy incinerating the forums everytime they posted.

I still remember posts about buffing genspeed by 250%, giving survivors 5 health states and how pig actually should have neither ambush nor traps..….good ol times.

I'm only now really considering how bizarre a phrase "Insider experience" is in that context.

Can it really be considered "insider" when we're referring to roughly half of the world's population?

It's got the same vibe of a 1800s explorer type bringing back strange tidings of far off tribes and their fascinating customs.

Anyone remember when you could have polls on here? I remember a lot of really funny posts from way back when about all sorts of ideas.
