Look, I don’t believe you were in the wrong but if someone gives up on first hook it’s not exactly a gg is it?
-
The game is sweat sided, it’s as simple as that. It’s why these last two modifiers have been a breath of fresh air. Games have mostly felt varied (at least until Huntress became 2 v 8 meta) and well paced on both sides. Loading into the base mode, I know if I’m not bringing meta on either side the chances of a good time…
-
Survivor gameplay is too watered down in this mode. The rare occasions where I’ve had to try and escape both killers are cool but too infrequent. I’ve had some games where I barely see either killer so I’m left to sit on gens, occasionally rescuing or healing another player. That’s just boring. No flashlights, no sabotage,…
-
This is exactly it. I understand that people wouldn’t want the freedom to make any build they like and discover different perk synergies to go away. But stacking 3/4 of the same type of perk? I don’t believe this is healthy or what the intention of the perk system actually is.
-
Wonderful game mode that proves once and for all a lot of the issues in this game are caused by having a meta but also the players themselves. I’ve had lots of chill, fun games in this mode and got value out of perks I’d never normally think to use but there are still some people absolutely sweating for reasons I will…
-
I don’t think the perk should be nerfed but the gaslighting really needs to stop. It is a very useful and pretty strong perk that is not only run by new and inexperienced players. Those players may use it to know where to go but good players use it just as much to tell them where not to go. Consider this scenario: You have…

All you have to do is read the description for the updated Pop Goes the Weasel to understand the devs are playing a different game to the rest of us.

Nerfing gen regression AND DS in one update…. What tunnelling problem?
-
Away from the discussion around survivors DC’ing, it is actually shameful that BHVR have not killswitched the perk Otz is talking about it. It is also ridiculous that the bugged maps have not been killswitched. At this point I have to ask, has too much actually gone wrong since this last update? And BHVR actually don’t…
-
The issue is a lot of the community have their own personal, subjective definitions of what tunnelling is. For example I would guess that a lot of people think when a killer focuses on two survivors, that is a form of tunnelling to them. When quite clearly, it isn’t. I have also seen many scenarios where a killer hooks…
-
Going to be honest I despise playing against this killer. I won’t DC but I’ll usually throw on a YouTube video or some music and just go with the flow. The question I’m yet to see answered is why people actually find this killer fun to play as. Chase survivor to a loop, drop drone. Survivor either gets injured by said…
-
Tunnelling is definitely a problem, but I think the game is generally balanced around the idea of pressuring 1/2 survivors more than the others and making sure someone is eliminated around the 5/6 hook mark. The game is unfortunately not balanced around spreading hooks too much and there is also a massive sore winner…
-
Fundamentally the question is this: Is running to a tile and finding out your teammate already dropped the pallet a fundamental normal part of the game? Or is it unfair? Showing which pallets are still up makes the perk useful. Showing which pallets aren’t up and allowing you to adjust accordingly is why the perk is…
-
As the game has changed over the years, the player base, and it is more the survivor main side of the playerbase, seem to have trouble accepting how an asymmetrical game should be balanced. Quite simply. In a 1 vs 4, the 1 needs to be more powerful than the 4 in the 1 v 1. This is why killers move faster as the most…
-
Recently a group of friends and I who all play DBD had some customs games over the Christmas period as we were all able to play for the first time in ages. We all took turns playing killer vs 4 man SWF on comms. We played normally, no memeing but no tryharding either. Not one of us managed more than a 2K. If we’d have…
-
I like Otz but I think his two seemingly big issues with the game are quite separate. On hand I agree with him that the AMA was highly disappointing and there are problems with the game that the devs continue to ignore. When someone asks if there’s any plans for survivors to see each others perks in the lobby, something to…
-
What’s interesting to me is that your stats are similar to mine regarding either 1K or 4K being the most popular options. My experiences lead me to the theory that if I was seeing 2K and 3K more I’d probably feel better about my experience playing this game as I feel like they are the healthiest matches. Instead I’ll get a…
-
Hilarious how someone posts asking for advice and the go to responses are camp, tunnel, don’t expect chill matches and don’t play M1 killers. No wonder the game is in a terrible state.
-
The player base has definitely dwindled. It’s no wonder BHVR are catering to new players now as there’s definitely an established group of players who are playing less or have dipped entirely. Because there’s a sweet spot with this game where it’s fun and then at a point it just isn’t. And this has nothing to do with the…
-
Why do people act like the “average” survivor player in this game is some massive potato running in straight lines, not looking behind them and not capable of completing skill checks on generators? This explains some of the awful balance ideas people have. There’s definitely a weird dichotomy, or maybe it’s just outright…
-
Not sure I’m allowed to share it due to how the data was found but you can google “DBD Player Populations And Network Traffic Are Worse Than We Thought” and see one article in particular that covered the issue around the time. This was a few months prior to 6.1 (when BHVR formally addressed kill rates being lower than they…
-
People who ask why would BHVR nerf survivors if they only cared about money must not have been around when data miners proved that at some point the killer/survivor player ratio was completely out of whack as hardly anyone was playing killer. Add in the pre 6.1 kill rates and something had to be done to keep the game…
-
You must have missed the part where I said the developers should do something about camping and tunnelling. I’ve even believed in the past and still do to this day really that the developers could simply make those strategies impossible for killers and then balance accordingly from there- with Gen speeds being a factor…
-
People who think it’s fine to lose 1 or even 2 gens quickly often turn out to be the same people who can’t understand why killers end up tunnelling and camping. The pace of the game should be slower and in turn camping and tunnelling should be very sub optimal strategies or even outright removed as options. Then the game…
-
I don’t fully agree with the OP sentiment. However there is a dissonance problem in that survivors say long chases are the most fun part of the game, but long chases basically mean a loss for the killer.
-
Honestly this is killing the game for me at the moment. Something has felt off the past few weeks so I started logging my results as killer. Know what the two most popular results are? 0K and 4K. And neither feel good.
-
The problem is the focus on new content though. I get it, new chapters, especially big licensed chapters earn the company money. But it feels now like there’s new chapter hype for about a week (less tbh) and then it’s back to the same old discussions about the same old problems with the actual game.
-
This game will not die, but I’ve definitely noticed similar trends to OP and OP’s actual match experiences match my own. I’ve noticed quite a few streamers I follow now play a lot of TCM or have given up on DBD altogether and moved exclusively to TCM or variety. I’ve also noticed a lot of killer players who seem to have…
-
Stricter MMR would clearly affect survivor queue times, hence why nothing gets done. I’m getting killer games in maximum 30 seconds at perk time. Mostly less than 20 seconds. In a 4 vs 1 there will obviously usually be slightly longer wait times for the 4, but I have a feeling that with stricter matchmaking those queue…
-
Honestly I’ve seen these takes almost exclusively on Twitter. And DBD Twitter is horrendously survivor sided. The way a lot of those survivor mains are so wedded to the role of survivor and almost seem to base their IRL identity on it is just…bizarre. Thankfully this forum isn’t like that. I still think people only playing…
-
But but I thought most survivors were just playing to have fun? Oh that’s right. Fun for them and not the big evil killer players.
-
Has this even been acknowledged by BHVR? I see nothing on their social media.
-
Most killer players who want to win recommend “soft tunnelling” 2 survivors. I don’t know any killer main who recommends 8 hooking before getting someone dead if a 4K is the goal. I don’t even think the devs would say that’s how they expect killers to play the game. I think it really depends on the pace of the match and…
-
Saw a streamer be held hostage in a game for almost an hour over this. The survivors brought a Dead Dawg offering as well. If this isn’t bannable then I don’t even know what to say. This needs to be dealt with within hours because it’s legitimately making the game impossible to play.
-
Reading this thread and the response from the community team is worrying. Do you not see how letting the game have such a laissez-faire approach contributes to toxicity? Hoping people will play nice is just a ludicrous way to manage a community. Let’s look at two examples here. Firstly, the situation whereby a survivor…
-
I just wish there was a way that killers could travel quicker when not in chase. It’s so freaking painful travelling across some maps as a 4.4 killer like Slinger. It encourages 3 genning as well which is a hot topic people like to moan about.
-
This is an asymmetrical multiplayer game. 1 vs 4. In a 1 vs 4, the 1 has to be stronger individually than the 4 individually. So how do the 4 win? By using teamwork and all pulling their weight. That’s how you balance an asymmetrical game. Do you not think that in the 1 v 1 (meaning in the chase) the killer is and should…
-
Let me ask you about this balance you want. In the 1 v 1, so the chase, should the killer have the advantage or not?
-
Fine let Xeno lose distance. But let’s also ditch flame turrets then- a fair trade yes? Seeing as you can’t deny Nurse, Blight or Wesker their power we should hold Xeno to this same balancing standard right?
-
Actually I want survivors to use the counterplay the devs give them and wait more than two days before crying for a killer to be nerfed. Also getting hung up on the word “powerful” is just a matter of semantics. Like I said in the OP, the killer should feel powerful in the 1 v 1. How is that controversial?
-
Not a horror game:
-
In the 1 v 1 you should feel like you’re in trouble. The game falls apart if that isn’t the case. Edit: the game is labelled a survivor horror game on the games official website and on steam so get your facts right.
-
So all killers should be judged in relation to the strength of Demo?
-
Hiding prestige favours survivors. Show who is in a SWF and crucially lock the lobby. No last second switches anymore and no lobby dodging from killers either. I have no issue playing a harder match as killer- I just want to know about it.
-
What do you mean by a “few seconds”? This game is incredibly fast paced with good survivors being very efficient. Punishing killers for missing an M2 for more than a few seconds is way too much in the current state of the game.
-
I played at least 10 games last night and got 9 xenos and one Myers. Hasn’t been like that since Wesker. The big difference with past killer releases for me was even though the BP bonus was on survivor but my killer queues were also instant. Both less than a minute, with survivor being almost instant. Ideal scenario tbh. I…
-
Windows shows new players where to go. It shows experienced players were not to go. It’s useful for everyone. I don’t care how good you are, you’re not psychic. And that is why the perk is strong. Running into an area of the map hoping to find a pallet only to find it gone should be a natural part of this game. Apparently…
-
So tactically letting survivors complete distant gens in order to shrink the area a killer has to patrol isn’t playing the game properly?
-
3 genning has been an inherent part of the game since inception. Play on Suffocation Pit or one of the Azarov maps in particular and try and pretend like it’s clearly not something intended by the devs. Due to the knight and more so SM this has now become a “problem” and I have no doubt the solution will be detrimental to…
-
So the takeaways from this thread are: The community is too toxic to handle voice comms Solo needs to stay weak because if every game was basically killer vs SWF, killers would leave en mass without serious balancing changes which would he unlikely to come I think basically what it boils down to is everyone just has to…
