Well, thanks Devs and Mods i guess
DCing versus the Spirit is nothing new, but for me since the Twitch Rivals it became even worse.
Survs telling me they are "punishing" me for playing Spirit because i depip. Devs said they wont ban for it, as long as they dont do it too often (their quote, not mine). I guess they keep their "allowed DCs" for game vs Spirit.
This situation feels like pre-legion-nerf. It is "unfun" to play against Spirit and Survs demand their right of winning.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but it's just a matter of time for the Spirit to be sent in Nurse's grounds.
Edit: Adding Screenshot of a "normal" Spirit Game...

I just had a match yesterday and as soon as one survivor found out I was spirit they all disconnected. I can see this becoming a huge problem down the line tbh.
26 -
Yes, as soon as they spot you or hear the phasing sound - DC
Some of them might take the time and type "ez depip" in the tally chat.
18 -
What happend at twitch rivals?I think its time for time bans like: 1dc in 6 hours is 5 min, 2 dc= 10 min... until 1 hour or even 24 hours. That would punish the dcer a lot more.

Nah, just got called a lot of rude words and they were pretty much insisting that spirit was gonna get nerfed. I understand it may be frustrating to go against spirit frequently but disconnecting ruins the game for killers and other team mates. Until they buff other killers survivors are just gonna have to suck it up and deal with it. I personally hate going up against spirit but I would never f#ck my team mates over. I just take it how it is and deal with it. Constantly going onto forums and crying over it just because you can't be bothered to switch up your playstyle is a lame excuse for a nerf in my opinion. (Just to be clear I'm not a spirit main, I only play her a few times).

I think one of the counters to spirit would be if survivors played stealthy and tried to hide which NO ONE these days does these days everyone wants to get chased and loop forever, they dont want to do gens i think thats the real issue. The fact they would have to play in a "boring way" to have a chance against spirit is possibly why they dont like her?
Despite the fact she doesnt give a ton of feedback in what exactly is happening is she or isnt she phasing for example. I find that kind of fun though not knowing whats going to happen it could be different every time.

Well, even the dumbest surv main caught the message, that DCs are tracked automatically. This means, even the scummiest DC - to say it with the words of a fog whisperer: DC strat for Hatch - will not be punished if it gets reported by a ticket or ingame.
People will only be punished if they DC "excessively"
For obvious reasons people (not just survs) feel pretty safe since the DC-ratio must be pretty high to strike in. I mean people even have their "DC rules" on their profile. Do this or that and i'll be gone and you depip - muhahaha.
I'm not only complaining from a killer's side of view. As a survivor, that never DCs intentionally it just sucks to have a snowflake in your team. The game is usually lost and 600 points for being abandoned wont change anything.
The community has been promised a DC punishment when the servers go live, since devs "can track DCs and see if it was intentional or caused by the game"
12 -
Im not talking about balance or fun. There are several other thread, regaring these topic.
I play this game since 2016 and this DC mindset is cancer for this already bad community.
4 -
How is it punished?
11 -
I was just meaning that as like a maybe thats a big factor into if they dc or not. Usually the dcs i encounter are rage quits because i "tunneled" aka they unhooked in my face so i downed both, things like that but when its spirit as said before some people dc on sight of you.
0 -
Maybe they should put in a system 1 free dc and then if you dc again within say maybe a couple hour to be generous to queue times sometimes taking half an hour in some cases, then you get a timeout for x amount of time which will get higher the more you dc till a set limit bans you?
2 -
What you are quoting has been taken out of context from a Custom Game, during a Tournament with its own rules.
As I already said we do not approve or encourage DCing, there's a system to punish it and I'd like to remind you that the servers are still in a testing phase, until they are not on every platform, they won't be considered live, so you can't expect to have a new system ready and implemented.
@JiggleWiggle There's an escalation process, from a week ban to a permaban, you can find all the information you need in this thread:
7 -
While I myself like being stealthy, hiding isnt always an option. If someone goes down, someone else is gonna have to go for the unhook. If that hook happens to be in the open, your gonna have to suck it up. Many gens are likewise...out in the open. Beyond that, we also have to actually do the objective. The more gens get done, the less possible places there are for survivors to be and still be productive.
2 -
The proliferation of DCs I have encountered recently suggests that DCs are "allowed". I know the devs might prefer that they didn't happen but players clearly have to cross a very high threshold to earn a ban. Progressive ban lengths will only affect the most frequent disconnectors.
We need time-outs to discourage casual rage-quitting far more than we need permanent bans for a tiny minority of players.
18 -
First of all, the reply you quoted is no longer viewable for me. Is it just me?
Yes, it was a custom game. But it had thousands of viewers and in my opinion the "custom game" reply is a bit short minded from the dev side. This guy already did a big disservice to the game with the killer-power-exploit. I guess he really aprreciates devs' mercy.
However, the DCing problem is nothing the dev- and modteam should underestimate. It's not enough to just "not encourage DCing"
5 -
Direct punishment just like CS:GO would be the best solution.
The current system is like smoking. You might get cancer someday, somewhere.
The player should have the option. Either tolerate this "unfun" trial or disconnect and screw 4 other players. If you choose the DC, you wont be able to play for the next 60 minutes.
8 -
You can't expect someone to get banned for dcing in a Custom Game and for sure we can't ban for something that happened 3 years ago.
Who says we are underestimating it?
We punish people for it, we punish people who suggest and encourage it on our platforms, a new system can be implemented on the dedicated servers in the future, so I don't think anyone is underestimating anything.

Im currently going on m1 only spirit run and i still find survivors dc'ing even when i dont use the power for a chase.
4 -
No i know i just mean to be more stealthy than they normally are if that makes sense? A lot of players WANT to be chased they wanna find the killer ive seen some people go a whole game before without being seen by the killer at all in some cases though, with unhooking going on gens popping. I havent seen that kind of stealth in a while now though. Because the game is all about looping now not as much on the stealth

Twice in a row I had four people DC because I played an offering so that all 4 survivors start separated.
0 -
It really screws over the survivor mains who aren't absolute [BAD WORD]s. 4 survivors can beat spirit (not easily, but still possible). But 2/3 survs with 5 gens against basically any killer that knows what they're doing is almost impossible. It's a TEAM game, if you can't be part of a team, then STOP [BAD WORD]ING PLAYING!!!
2 -
Well, sorry than i guess. It must have been me exaggerating all those DCs.
And thanks for the warning, always nice to have a grown up discussion.
0 -
I tend to try that, but like I said...its not always possible. Stealth is plan A, but you gotta have the possibility of running away as plan B if the killer decided to look at the gen thats out in the open. Maps like Blood lodge have way to much area with insufficient hiding spots. Watched a streamer earlier than mainly plays Piggy like 95% of the time completely butcher a team of red ranks with no addons and only shadowborn for perks on that map when he decided to have an odd game with Spirit.
0 -
Thing i found strange with Twitch Rivals is you had the "guest" caster encouraging DCing against the Nurse then in the final section of players you had someone dc to give the hatch to another player with thousands watching on. Killer mains must have been like #########.
Everyone knows dcing is a major issue with the game, hopefully these people haven't encouraged more to do it.
6 -
Can you record your matches? Would love a good laugh.
4 -
I can explain one i had yesterday if you want (with a screenshot included)
0 -
Yeah i know sometimes stealth is hard because its a big open map or what not, i just personally dont see it if at all maybe platform and rank can change that though :)
0 -
What Platform do you play on?
What Rank are you?
0 -
Please do :)
0 -
And what do you think devs do right now? Create new costumes for shop / new killer (probably garbage like always) instead of balance current game.
0 -
As a spirit main to see stridor kinda hurts.
2 -
I have an ongoing joke of "Operation:Hide like a #########". Spinechill, fixated, ironwill and bond is my current setup. Much of the game comes down to being able to outplay the other guy. If your not getting any queues on whats going on, its just not possible to react (many of the queues that people suggest are either false information, or hidden if the killer picks a different cosmetic). Spinechill lets me avoid alot of chases, but its pretty much impossible to actually have a roll in outplaying the killer when you actually get found. People like to think they have a role in the chase, instead of it just coming down to hoping the killer misses.
2 -
To me the whole threshold system is outdated, dc, doesn't matter why should result in a cd for x hours and that should be increased with each dc and no reset for it, you don't have to perma ban people for that.
It will put a stop to dcing especially since even when those special people use a diffrent account the next dc of them isn't far away.
Is there any news on when the servers testing will be complete?
3 -
They know the solutions to DCs, they even have posted their plans for it months ago but sadly they're relying on dedicated servers being live to implement it which could be god know how long away.
DCing has been a problem for years and it's getting so much worse after the twitch rivals situation, The least they could do is lower the presumably high threshold because it clearly doesn't work.
2 -
You guys don’t get one thing, if DC becomes bannable, people will just start suiciding and in the end it will have the same effect. While I don’t encourage or agree with DCS, I kinda understand why people do it.
People currently abuse spirit, since she’s easy to play and hard to counter, which isn’t fun for survivors. Even devs themselves are aware of her overperforming.
The only thing survivor can rely on is hoping spirit guesses wrong, also let’s not forget passive phasing, no window vault animation + impossible to blind her during vaulting/pallet breaking. If anyone thinks this is fair and alright I would suggest playing survivor on high ranks against spirits like every 2nd,3rd game.
3 -
If you call playing Spirit abusing, what would you call intentional DC to open the hatch?
6 -
thats an exploit
1 -
If someone DCs because they believe they are being tunnelled, they should be able to do it but should suffer a few minutes where they cannot play. Making it count towards a permanent ban is silly.
0 -
Just what i thought.
However, if they would suicide on the hook, i would at least get my BBQ Stack and not depip due to DC. Everyone cares for their fun, but trust me, some people just do it to piss you off, knowing they are safe to do so.
1 -
Before i began, i made a rule to not use spirit's power during a chase (only use it if have to travel quick distances) and that i can only use either no addons or addons that increase the passive frequency (barely does something imo soo don't rely on the passive)
Match went normal but after downing the nea a second time (she was already hooked once) she dc'd. Same goes for this jane that just dc'd after the chase.
Other nea died on the hook, and i hooked bill during EGC (because challenge).
3 -
They said they were going to make it so when someone dc's, they will leave husks behind so you can still hook them and get bloodpoints & bbq stacks. This will also stop the "dc to give hatch" exploit.
0 -
I just think at the very least clicking the DC button has to have a consequence, even if it's only like 15 minutes for someone who almost never DCs.
The fact that punishments might happen, or happen at a threshold, or just never happen at all, mean that people feel too happy to disconnect at any given time they choose, because there's no forseeable consequence.
Nearly every other competitive multiplayer game already does this.
6 -
Hahaha. Honestly, who DCs against a Killer not using their power? It's fairly easy to maintain a long chase before you meet your demise. Hope, you and the other Survivors experienced better matches after that.
Looks like the Bill is suffocating to death (but probably still enjoying it).
1 -
If your goal is to force nerfs (hello legion), it doesnt matter how the unfun killer is played.
2 -
I think you misinterpreted my comment. I was laughing at how petty some Survivors were by DCing against a Killer not even using their power.
I have no goal in this discussion.
0 -
Mmmmno. Image + what happend in the match shows that most survivors just want every killer to be looped till all gens get fixed without breaking a sweat. (Not all survivors, but there are some who just want that)
0 -
No i didnt. For those people it doesnt even make sense if you play spirit "fair" or as a meme.
I got reported and flamed for playing Mad Grit Bubba so often just because they dont know, what this perk does.
0 -
I'm confused.... what is your goal here?
0 -
Lmao this is the reason I win against spirit, I usually finish about three gems with my trusty toolbox after like veryone else got hooked and unhooked (it’d be suicide if I did) then the other would all get downed and hooked and die and I would look for hatch. Ez points lmao
