Sincerely, an Xbox Series X player.
Guess I'm still not playing until they fix this. Crossplay literally killed this game on Xbox. Can't match with other Xbox players if they have it on, it's on by default and 99% of the community is too lazy or too uninformed to turn it off.

I don't want to make light of your issue, I'm just curious, why should they turn if off ? Is it because playing againt other platforms is unfair or something similiar.

I just don't want to play with PC or PS players. If I told you why I'd probably get banned from the forum TBH.
Maybe I will cross play as killer now with 60 FPS, but hell no am I going to play survivor with survivors on other platforms.

Crossplay is quite evident in the score screen, so it's not that 99% of players are "too lazy or uninformed" to turn it off. More likely, they just don't think the long queues are worth it.

You can't play with people on your platform if they have crossplay turned on and you have it off or vice versa. The icon has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.
I play on Xbox with crossplay off, and I can ONLY match with other Xbox players that have if off too. If they have it on we can't be put in a game even if everyone is on Xbox anyway.

I know what you're talking about. My point is that people know they have crossplay enabled; it's self-evident. Therefore, my conclusion is not that they're uninformed or lazy, but rather that they prefer having it on.

I'm on xbox one and I have it on, not because I'm too lazy to turn it off but because I like the quicker queue times and variety of players.
Uninformed? If you have any downsides to Crossplay then I will gladly listen to them

You have no evidence that they don't know what it means. I think any human being would be curious about the weird symbol and look up what it means.
Not wanting to change it is not the same as being lazy. Just because you would rather have it off (without suffering the consequences of longer queue times) doesn't mean the same is true of other players.

Crossplay is awesome because my survivor queue times are now waay shorter than before.And i get to face/play with streamers more often too,which is kinda cool.Gotta give props to BHVR for being able to implement it without ANY issues at all.
I don't understand why you would ever turn crossplay off,especially of you own a next gen console.The only time i would turn it off is if i get faster queue times or another patch like 4.3.1 (Dead by PowerPoint presentation)

Not everyone cares about que times.
You get the worst matches on crossplay. There is a reason it is fast because you're getting matched with pretty much everyone. Maybe when MMR comes back it would be better but for now the only way I feel like I get games that have everyone of equal skill is on my own platform only.
I'd rather wait for a game that's a challenge than one where 3 of 5 players DC before it ends or players that clearly should not be in red ranks.

For real the thread is not about why I don't play crossplay. It's about the devs fixing the problems on Xbox Series X and making it so that I can match with other players on my platform if they have crossplay ON, just don't put crossplay players in the game. So unless you are going to respond to either of those, just don't.

That's not feasible or reasonable. Such a thing would effectively be imposing your choice to disable crossplay on everyone you get matched with, since they won't be able to match with people from other platforms either because you happen to be in the same lobby.

I see 0 difference between PC,Xbox or PS players in terms of skill.
Be upset about how easy it is to get to High Rank but NOT about crossplay.Those 2 have nothing to do with each other

It would not because you can be put in a game full of Xbox players with crossplay on anyway. It could easily match me in games to fill in spots.
Furthermore I feel force to play with crossplay on if I want to actually play the game nowadays. So why is it okay to force me to do something I don't want but not okay to force other people?

Yeah, that’s one of the only two problems with next gen consoles (the other being trophies not carrying over, at least on PS5). Because of how hard they were to preorder, not that many people have a next gen console right now (it might even be worse for XSX because I saw a lot more hype for the PS5). Add most people not realizing or caring about the disadvantages of crossplay, and you’re in for a bad time. Unfortunately you’ll have to either turn crossplay on or switch back to the XB1 version for now. Hope you didn’t get rid of it or the Series X allows you to switch between versions like the PS5 does.

I don't see any reason to turn it off, the way this post comes across it seems to me like you think Xbox Gamers are the best or something, you implied in an earlier comment that reasons you don't want to play with crossplay will get you banned, so it's probably for the better that the majority of people have it on so they can avoid the toxicity.

On the other hand, unless players like you were pushed to the back of the queue, which would likely mean you'd never get into a trial again, you would effectively be imposing your personal choice on everyone else.
Nobody's forcing you to have crossplay on. You have the choice to disable it, but you'd rather have shorter queues. This is very different from you showing up in a lobby and everyone else being forced to be matched as if they had crossplay off.

Yes they are by turning on crossplay my pool gets smaller and smaller while theirs gets bigger. Eventually no one will be in my pool and I'm FORCED into crossplay if I want games.
If the crossplay option was OFF by default this wouldn't be a problem because then at least people would have to choose to do it instead of choose to not do it. And yes there is a difference.

To clarify: as Otzdarva has shown, the sweatiest players turn crossplay off and have created their own private ecosystem of tryharding and borderline competitiveness on each respective platform, despite the fact that DbD isn't competitive in any real sense.

Literally just had a game where an Ash offered Lery's then decided to try and meme with the killer by looping around hooks. People just don't do that ######### on Xbox. He was crossplay. I don't want to play with him at all.

You didn't have to say xbox players are the best, but you specifically stated that the reason you don't want to playa against PS / PC players will get you banned, which implies it isn't for any real reason other than you don't like people from other platforms which is super irrational. Am I the only one not understanding what the problem of crossplay is for Xbox players? I know of framerate/general performance issues for consoles compared to PC but OP doesn’t want to play against PS as well..
i mean, I would understand if Switch players complained..

Chance of running into cheaters (it's low but does exist), bad experiences with players from another platform (haven't had any personally but I know of people who have), or poor optimization (last gen only). Personally I only had it off because of poor optimization. Now that I have a PS5 I'll be turning it back on.

There's pretty much no point in crossplay if we turn it off by default.
And people are definetely able to choose if they want crossplay or not.Most people just want to use crossplay.

Only if people keep prioritizing shorter queues over excluding players in other systems. Otherwise, the reverse is true. Either way, no force is being used. You have the choice to decide for yourself what's more important: shorter queues or only playing with people using the same system as you. Personally, I chose shorter queues and would do so regardless of what the default status of crossplay happened to be.

If crossplay was off by default, you'd have the exact same problem, but in reverse, so this wouldn't solve anything.
Try to organize with people who feel the same way you do. Teach them about crossplay, disable it en masse and see if your queues are shortened. If you're right and most players are just too lazy or uninformed to do anything about it, then you'll have proven that crossplay is an unwanted feature (at least for your platform). If not, you at least have a small pool of players to get into lobbies with.

Hmm,cheaters is a non issue honestly due to the fact how extremely rare they are (Only faced 1 cheater since crossplay and i play a LOT) and having really bad or sandbagging teammates doesn't seem to be different compared to the time before crossplay.
Poor optimization is the only real reason imo (for last gen as you said)

I don't think you know what the word forcing means.
If you can opt out of it at anytime you want with the simple click of a button you're not forced into anything.
It people don't care enough to take it off that's not behaviour probably if you don't want crossplay on that's all well and good but you have to deal with longer lobby because you're encountering a lot that people.

Crossplay has been a highly requested feature over the years, and it makes far more sense to have it on by default than to have it off, given that you can't really match players who have it off with those who have it on. Furthermore, everyone prefers shorter queues, which crossplay can provide. Even people who don't like crossplay (you, to name a relevant example) prefer to leave it on than to suffer through longer queues.

You complain about crossplay being forced and that players from other plattforms play worse than yours even though the real issue is that we don't have a proper MMR system yet/bad matchmaking.

So then you admit we wouldn't have that problem in reverse.
Therefore it makes sense to do what I said and make it so that you can match with other players on your platform even if they have a different crossplay setting.
And since it would be low priority then we only get matched once all other options are exhausted. But then since I still my my own pool of non-crossplay players I can still potentially find games sooner.
It's a win-win for everyone. No one would be forced to play with crossplay off, they want it on for faster MM which they would still get.
