Optimization in this game is the worst i've ever seen even though it's graphically not exactly groundbreaking.
Like,i would totally understand the FPS drops/screen freezes of they would happen because a lot of things are happening on your screem,lots of explosions etc.
But we get those FPS drops/screen freezes because it plays a little and simple animations or because of a damn tiny status effect/perk icons appearing on your screen.And apparently BHVR isn't able to fix this after 2+ years,even though it's very much gamebreaking and should be a top priority issue.
And then we see those people trying to argue that your late gen console can't handle that/is outdated hardware even though it's able to handle games of the caliber of RDR 2,The Witcher 3,Horizon Zero Dawn,God of War,Final Fantasy 7 Remastered etc.
I will never get it why BHVR just refuses to communicate with us about important things like that.
This game could be so much more if the company behind it wouldn't be so deaf and profit oriented like it is now.
I miss the companies that really try their best to deliver a great product.

Not that I know of but I don't think they care. They're on PCs that run fine so not something that is even on their radar. Maybe one will see this thread and share the clips in a video but they're more likely to focus on the repetitive nerf/buff arguments that'll get them views than BHVR still not optimizing console.

A few years back TydeTyme gave it a go on a PS4. I watched him play Hag in the corn, and pronounced it "both gross and disgusting."
Puppers used to play (Fridays I think) with viewers also on PS4 but abandoned that a year back.
In the last two weeks I've noted both Jund and Tru (best friends these days I see) have called out frame drops as they happen to their fancy dancy PCs.
Hope abounds for us consolers with all that happening...

I’m really starting to feel bitter towards BHVR. It’s actually disgusting how bad things currently are on Xbox but they won’t address it. Buying an Ps5 or the new Xbox console isn’t a real solution. Address the freaking situation for crying out loud. Your company is pathetic.

I hate to do this but, @ScottJund if you would ever consider attempting playing on console to experience it, or reading through this thread and possibly starting a discussion on it, I think that this could help.
I know that this a lot to ask so feel completely free to ignore this. I don’t know much, but if I do know one thing it’s that you have a voice in this community and that when you create a discussion, people tend to give it attention. The more that this discussion is out there, the harder, IMO, it is for BHVR to continue to ignore the problem.

I remember Otzdarva posted a comment on DBD's official YT channel asking the devs not to leave console players in the dark with the graphical updates. He commented on one of the realm beyond videos.

I think It would be nice to ask many bigger streamers to play one stream on console. Just one person wouldnt have a big impact. But a big community day where many streamers participate on console just to showcase how bad it is would put some more light on the issue. Scott has done many videos with nice ideas, but they were ignored. Hes not big enough.

In the latest killer tier list Otz has put out he prefaced it by saying he only considered the PC version of the game, and went into a short statement why.
When this video came out a month ago I commented on it asking Otz to expand on why PC only and offered up my Xbox1x for testing. Sadly neither happened.
I believe he is a Fog Whisperer, as are several of the big DBD content creaters out there, and like the mods on this forum they very likely have been coached in what to say & not say when it comes to console optimization and the overall performance experience difference. My opinion of course.

Also how dose shadow born fix these freeze frames there are 2 killers I run it on and have yet to see a freeze drop I did feel bad for a meg tho she used dh and went nowhere and I could see it this time because because of shadow born

they dont care about you console players at all, they been saying since 2017 when the game came out for you guys that they will fix the game, look at where we are today, 5 years later the game still works like this, unaceptable, they clearly dont care AT ALL, and probably never cared to begin with. and if they do, its been 5 years showing the opposite because you show your care with ACTIONS not with words, words fix nothing, actions do. is what it is guys, i still wonder myself why you allow this, because by spending lots of money in the store you just show your happiness with the treatment you are getting.

Myself and swf teammate stopped buying anything (DLC or cosmetics) from DBD last summer due to the performance issues and no signs of it getting better. We considered getting the RE DLC but with the response someone else showed from BHVR pretty much saying optimization won't happen we've decided to definitely not buy it.

This is getting ridiculous, especially considering how much gaming has increased during the pandemic and how much Sony has emphasized keeping PS4 updated.
BHVR just got Capcom to do a chapter with them. Capcom actually appreciates console as a platform, given that they had extended period to play RE8 demo exclusively for PS4/PS5 players. BHVR should take some notes from Capcom about how to treat most of their player base.

Lery's, especially the central room, tank frames for my Xbox1x into the teens, even worse if I'm going against a Doc or Freddy. When that rework came out I loved the look and constantly wished it would come up. Now i want that map to quietly crawl into a bush somewhere and die, and take Midwich and Hawkins with it.

I feel like the brightness on the new Coldwind maps wicked hurts my frames. I used to not care being sent to Coldwind but now I dread everytime I load into it.

I doubt it's the brightness lol but it's still not a good sign that the most recently reworked maps are performing badly...

I understand completely. I've had issues with framerates too. My framerates were very bad in a match that my console didn't register a pallet drop.

Yeah, It's pretty ridiculous. Deathslinger and Nurse are near unplayable on console and the frames drop every time I get hit with a status effect. Can't even play on Lery's because the center room kills the frame rate.

Wish I hadn't supported this game since console release. Bought way too much in-game stuff for a game that doesn't even run properly.

It's so disappointing to see them genuinely not care at all about console players or low end pc players. They're losing players that want to play but can't enjoy the game because the performance is so terrible. I always thought being an indie dev they'd care more about the players than the bigger devs but they've shown that's not the case. 😔

I myself limit my play on the game slowly adding in different content so I don't have to suffer through the game performance it's super sad because I love the game just the performance makes it utterly unenjoyable

It was obvious honestly.
It's been 3 weeks since Mandy responded to this thread and said that she will try to get some info on this matter and we still have 0 info from her or anyone else from BHVR.
This company just doesn't care.And it makes me insanely angry when i think of the times when Mods were saying that our feedback is heard.

It's just straight up pathetic,how BHVR handles this whole situation.They choose to stay silent on this matter and you know what?
It doesn't matter anyway,because they are getting their money just fine.New DLCs,cosmetics and licenses makes sure of that.
This whole situation is just the most embarassing thing i've seen for a game that is THAT successful.
Our only hope is either getting the attention of an important Twitter person or buying a next gen console when they're available in year 2030+

I mean,they definetely cared at the beginning but as DbD got more and more successful the company behind it got more and more greedy and lazy.
And sure,they are losing players because of this but they get more than enough new players from all the new content who have yet to discover how this company really thinks about its consumers.

It pains me to say this but the console releases of DBD are clearly a cash grab imo... You see how long '4k at 60 FPS' on next gen consoles held up before the performance issues started to take ahold? The answer... Not very long. It's all good though, little Jimmy will keep buying bright green Nea cosmetics on the PS5 his parents bought him.

I've said this before, but porting this game on over to console was at once the best and worst decision they've made.
I will not blame anyone who choses to stop playing out of fustration and a deep feeling of being unheard & left behind. Go put your time & support into a game you enjoy and wish to get behind. This gaming stuff was supposed to be fun, rememeber?

Pretty sad that the devs have seen this thread for sure already, they are just choosing not to reply, deliberately leaving us in the dark. I was optimistic before, but it really feels like they are just ignoring us.
They could have at least said that it was confirmed that optimization was coming as they said in the RE livestream. Just write a little comment confirming this in this thread and that will be it, I would be happy.

I'm surprised Capcom allowed their IP to be used in DBD given the poor performance on consoles. BHVR probaby did a 'Cyberpunk' and only showed gameplay of Nemesis to Capcom on a high-end gaming PC.
