The Continued Ignorance of Performance Issues Continues to Hamper Player Fun

Optimization isn't that devs department and he's not one that is in position to be giving out info. Atleast he does give out information when he can and communicates with players. The communication/pr department are the ones deciding what can/can't be said to the player base.
1 -
If this happens I'm sure a new thread will be created in it's place.
9 -
Yeah, and then it's gonna get locked again.
Until we grow tired of it or something. It's sad but BHVR can totally afford it to ignore us as long as they want to.
8 -
You'd think by this point they'd atleast give the post a "bhvr read" but still nothing. I'm not surprised, it just adds to the feelings of being ignored.
4 -
We won't grow tired, we've been waiting for an update since 2019.
7 -
Still,BHVR can very well choose to ignore this issue as long as it doesn't hurt their income.
Sooo yeah, guess we gonna have to wait another few years i suppose 👁👄👁
6 -
At this rate, we're definitely gonna pass that other thread that got closed for being the biggest thread on the forums.
Unless of course it get's closed due to "violating the forum rules".
6 -
Even if it does, I'll just make a new one with all the videos linked.
4 -
Thank you for forcing the devs to acknowledge this issue.
3 -
Bhvr has yet to read this thread from an official forums account, or even open it. :)
7 -
I think we all know the only thing we'll ever see on this thread from BHVR is "we've heard you and are looking into this issue, as such, we wre locking this thread."
I think the only way we get any sort of resolution is if we invoke the wrath of Twitter, but they seem preoccupied right now.
7 -
And I'll go to that thread listing the triggers and adding to discussion from ps4 player.
3 -
You ever get the feeling that maybe they've been so focused on pushing DbD into the future that they forgot to make sure it was doing okay in the present?
Like at this point I'm questioning whether I should even continue trying to upgrade to an Xbox Series X or if I should just splurge and pick up a NASA supercomputer instead. That might buy me a whole year of having a stable 30 fps (maybe).
I really really hope they weren't pulling our collective leg when they mentioned optimization as part of their "4 Pillars".
11 -
If you go the NASA puter route, keep in mind there's still no Cross Progression so you'd have to rebuy the game, the dlc's, any wanted cosmetics, and regrind everything.
Those of us with thousands of hours and some decent $$ into the game are unlikely to go through all that again.
5 -
And most if not all of us would contribute there as well.
2 -
You aren't alone, the stream a while back gave off that feeling, they mentioned multiple times about stuff like "bringing DBD up to modern games" and stuff graphic wise. They're completely focused on how things look instead of how the game plays. Basically graphics over gameplay... and if people here have been gaming a while, they should remember how those games typically don't succeed.
7 -
With how the game performs right now, I can't even realistically play like 75% of the DLC killers anyway.
Most of them suffer from such frequent stuttering and frame-dropping that they're an abject misery to use.
6 -
I know how you feel.
Twins are next to unplayable for me. Every time I charge a pounce as Victor my game lags.
4 -
It's like
but instead
17 -
But can it run Doom?
10 -
Pop Corrupt Thana Sloppy
Ruin Undying Tinkerer Monitor Deathslinger
Pop Corrupt Stridor Spirit
You deserve worse frames to be honest.

What a mature member of the DBD community, thank you for your input but I'm afraid nobody asked.
13 -
Imagine trying to win and have fun.
Try not to knock people for enjoying themselves and stay on topic
:)
11 -
As a matter of fact. my One X does run Doom Eternal way better than Dead By Daylight
12 -
Wait, who deserves worse frames? Consolers?
5 -
Wow! Holy #########! 30 pages of comments about Optimization and yet still no response.
10 -
Please just ignore the people that try to derail the thread
8 -
Not the first time unfortunately
9 -
Well a while back we had a similar thread and a dev actually did respond but we never got anymore updates afterwards
8 -
Probably not last either.
8 -
Not surprised
13 -
...
12 -
Probably not.
I'll keep fighting for it tho.
10 -
As will I and I'm sure others on this post.
7 -
Good.
Because it's highly likely that I'll quit in the next few weeks, if not sooner.
MMR, bad community experiences and the absolute atrocity that has been the lack of a response to this issue are driving me away fast.
I'll still be here on the Forums, but I probably won't be an active player.

I've mentioned already on here, my cut off is when I get a ps5. I just don't see the point in installing a 5 year old game that isn't fixing performance issues, just hoping systems will power through them. In 6 months players on PS5 are already pointing out performance issues, who knows how many more will crop up by time I upgrade.
I've cut back playing quite a bit already. At this point I mostly keep playing because it's something to play with my swf teammate - we have a hard time finding games to play together. It's just obnoxious getting outplayed by a trigger in the game causing an fps drop.
5 -
I jjst really can't find it in me to play knowing that the company isn't going to address meaningful issues.
It took a damn near riot on Twitter to get them to do ANYTHING with colorblind options.
5 -
New videos. The DDoS has ended and I am free once more.
Subsequently, these are from the only game I got to play so far today. I even have the funny DDoS recorded and tbh, I thought I was just freezing at first.
6 -
This is big part of what has turned me off from the game. Their actions don't make me feel like they care about the console player experience. Silence on console optimization, releasing multiple killers in a row that have obvious issues when played with a controller, having limited code event cosmetics that are 30 characters long so console doesn't have a chance unless those giving out codes show mercy, etc. Even when ps4 was unplayable for weeks there wasn't even a "hey, here's some bp for the inconvenience."
We'd need someone outside the DBD community to say something because that'd be bad publicity for potential new players. They already got our money from base game/dlc, they don't care what we say.
7 -
The unhook/sacrifice triggers - so obnoxious that they cause FPS drops, only way to avoid is not hook people. 🤦♀️
2 -
I heard through the grapevine that every single asset for every single Killer is loaded into every match, regardless of what Killer you're playing.
Just to really show how good BHVR is at optimization.
6 -
Do you have a way to confirm/prove this?
Not saying I don't believe you, I'd just like to have something to show others.
9 -
Unfortunately, I do not. Like I said, it was through the grapevine. But the person who told me is an aspiring coder, if that is noteworthy.
5 -
Do you think you could ask them?
Maybe they can type a doc explaining it?
7 -
I'll go ahead and do that.
7 -
I'd be interested in seeing this as well. Why on Earth would loading all of that each round be necessary? Just imagine the load that adds no matter what platform goodness gracious!
Would absolutely love to hear from expert/highly knowledgeable persons the effect on performance that would cause.
This is the first time I've heard of this as well.
7 -
Alright, I asked him to explain what he means. This was his response.
“From what I know, Dead By Daylight uses one raw script that loads every single character and perk asset in the game regardless of if they are being used in the match. This means that, for example, Huntress assets like her hatchets and her point gain events are loaded even if Huntress isn’t present in the match. Having a single long script with every character’s data causes performance issues when a character is called into play later on due to the game having to find their data in the script to call upon.”
“Eventually, performance degrades to such a point that the game may stutter until it finds the correct character data to load into memory. Games with multiple characters usually compile seperate scripts of data that are loaded depending on if said character is in play; this is not the case with Dead By Daylight, since this game was built on “blueprints” made generically by other UE devs. The optimal loading method is to have all killer and survivor perks on one script, and all killer powers on individual scripts that can be called upon when that killer is present. If you notice, depending on what killer you are playing, the game may perform with more stutter or less depending on where the killer’s code is in the script.”
“That’s the gist of it. Also, the game stutters worse depending on what survivor is loaded into the lobby, with the four original survivors with their original clothing causing the least amount of stutter.”
”Also because of this ######### one-script method, it allows hackers to spawn in and use different killer powers regardless of if they are playing a different killer. Normally, spawning in a different character asset not present in that level would crash the game. Look at Left 4 Dead 2, spawning the bride witch on a stage she is not present in will crash the game.”

Funny, when you first mentioned this I thought that'd explain the Ghostface with hatchets hack players keep seeing.
13 -
This makes sense as performance tends to degrade the longer you play. I close and reopen the game after about 5 matches.
13 -
If that's true, it certainly explains why they haven't fixed anything yet
