Oh, Nea wasnt part of the OG 4. And if that were true, lorewise, I'd say Meg and Jake are the 2 biggest contenders. Dwight could also be, but he is too shy to let anything be known.

I doubt it. I think it means more about his dad wanting him to grow up and have jake become in charge of the family company but jake doesn't want to.

Maybe not lose braincells- because it is genuinely understandable why some people are so deprived they will beg for literally anything at this point- but I agree that good representation will always outclass the bad kind. Hence why it's good representation.
Basically its not wrong at all to ask for representation, but at least ask for good representation, instead of just checking boxes and making terrible boring characters.
I don't think I've seen anybody asking for the bad kind yet ngl. Like, even on Twitter people want the good kind because, to quote, "I don't want a gay character, I want a character who happens to be gay." (which is where I got that saying from ty Twitter)
A good example of this kind of mess was announced recently i think it was called "Q Force" and let me tell you, it was SO BAD that people straight up said stuff like "ive met homophobic people that are less offensive than this".
Q Force made me sad to watch the trailer for. Like, for people who are flamboyant and liked it, good for them, but it was definitely not my cup of tea.
But that's something to remember- despite the stereotypes and the noise to not give a character who conforms to these stereotypes we should remember that there are people like that and they deserve just as much representation as the lgbt+ people so far in the closet they're best friends with Aslan.
Im kinda new to the lore of the game, so cant say much about it, but if BHVR is doing proper representation like mentioned in that statement in the post above, then good for them for not being total idiots like many others and actually caring about the quality of the writing.
Seems like it since they're partnering with a charity (GaymerX) which specialises in helping media companies provide good lgbt+ representation, as well as holding their own gaming convention + granting lgbt+ game devs opportunities either by getting job openings or acting as a publisher. I'm not against homosexuals thank you, thanks for just immediately lashing out and not thinking my comment through. I'm just saying that changing someone's orientation because of "diversity" and "representation" points alone and not just for the sake of having good backstory or character depth is a bad idea.

It can mean whatever you want it to mean! It could be that he's gay or bi-; it could be that he has difficulties learning; it could even be a political stance that he's anti-authoritarian or has a fascination with a culture other than his!
The great thing is that you can make the headcannon how you wish - even omitting anything they have written, if it doesn't fit your perspective.
But as to what I think, based on those excerpts alone, it feels like it's him questioning the truth or meaning behind his culture. Or the pressures it puts on what is designated "success". It's how I see it and many may read it differently, but that's the beauty of interpretation!

Enough of this. This thread is not to debate whether or not their should be a gay person in the game, the mods close threads for that. This is a speculation thread.

Welcome to the DbD Forums, where asking "Hey, is this character gay?" results in five pages of people going "I'm not homophobic, but..."
More on topic, I'm not quite sure if I get... Gay from what the lore said. It seems a little too vague when it seems the Dev's are going to confirm a character as gay. I could be wrong though, and if Jake being gay makes people happy, I'm happy.

there is nothing LGBTQ+ related shoved into anyone’s face in DbD, especially if Jakes tome implies he might be gay it was a very subtle notion. Also, habe you read the tome story of Legion? That is a good example of something sexual being unnecessarily being shoved in our faces. And it’s about a straight couple.
so why lash out in the first place in this thread and say this would ruin Jakes character?

I wouldn't read too much into that. Korean culture is different from Western countries in that being successful in academics and work is a big deal to parents, especially those with old world values. I would think what you quoted has more to do with that than anything else.

That person could be a woman, for all you know. Even if they're a man, Jake could still be bi. I don't know why everyone focuses on "G" when there's 4 letters in "LGBT", three of which pertain to sexual orientation.

I'd love if Jake was gay but I'm doubtful BHVR would ever confirm any such thing. The whole, Claudette not being autistic thing by them is why. They seem really reluctant to commit to these things with their characters and that's totally fine if they want things that way. If things are left up in the air and more vague, we can make our own head canons and like these characters however way we want to.
Heck, it doesn't even have to be "gay" it would be pretty cool to have bi/pans or asexual representation. I feel like maybe one day BHVR might be more open with it but for now I'm just grateful that they embrace LGBTQIA+ pride as much as they do and it feels genuine unlike others.

Unfortunately gay means different thing to different people. To a lot in the community, "gay" has become an umbrella term for all lgbt+, with men loving men taking up "mlm" (not multi-level marketing lol) and women loving women taking up "wlw", but to some others it's still just gay men that use the term. To a lot of straight people "gay" is just guys too, which is kinda sad, but oh well
