it’s been explained multiple times in this thread, you can go through the comments and see why
(spoiler: positive LGBTQ+ representation is important and will remain a relevant topic, also BHVR and the forum mods care about it)4 -
On reflection, I guess it's kinda sad that in 3 years, this has been the only positive and wholesome topic worthy of stickering.
3 -
I mean, how could anyone rerist him haha.
3 -
sure. This one is up to date though and has a good reason to stay.
3 -
give one good reason to unpin this post instead of simply you dismissing it

It’s nice seeing this thread still receiving so many nice comments. Sorry that I rarely visit here anymore, but life can just get in the way. A little update for you all is that I met another Personal Trainer last year (who identified as straight) and we became really close friends and he started to develop feelings for me and went on his own journey with his sexual identity and came to the conclusion that he’s probably heteroflexible as he’s always been with women / identified as straight but that he couldn’t deny the feelings he has for me. We took things slow and just kept things as friends but now just over a year later we are officially a couple and are planning to move in together sometime this year. We’ve already lived together for a substantial amount of time as we went on holiday for a week in a caravan and he’s been living in my apartment for the past few weeks as I was going through a hardship and he didn’t want me being alone. It’s crazy how you can find love when and where you least expect it. It’s just been so nice falling in love with my best friend.
I guess the real life David King has found his Dwight. 🤣
I hope everybody else has been well. x10 -
aww I am very glad to have read this and am so happy for you both 💙
there has been enough comments coming here and there that appreciate this positive thread - and also those just reading it. Especially considering how these forums can be very negative with many topics being us vs them (killer vs survivor, casual vs competitive, players vs devs, balance vs fun etc pp ) focused.
It’s sad seeing people wanting to derail this thread in this direction as well when it could just be a wholesome topic and a reminder this game and representation in general can be positive and have good influences.

@Mooks Thank you!
I believe that things happen for a reason, although we might not know at the time what that reason is. I genuinely think that me and Chris were destined to meet as everything I went through as a child / teenager / young adult with my own parents made me a more caring and understanding person and I’m glad I was able to help / be there for him on this new journey. His parents are a lot more open-minded than mine were (which he already knew) so they had no issues whatsoever with our relationship. His mum is our personal cheerleader to be quite honest as she didn’t like his ex-girlfriend as she was apparently really manipulative and nasty towards Chris / always trying to stop him from seeing his family. Now everything is pretty much perfect as he’s much happier and I finally feel like I have a supportive family behind me. 💙

I'm so happy for you omg, congratulations!

Thank you for sharing your journey. It takes a lot of courage to be true to oneself, especially in the face of societal pressures and expectations. Your story of self-discovery and acceptance is incredibly inspiring. Representation matters, and characters like David King can make a profound impact on individuals struggling to find their identity. I'm glad you found resonance and validation in his character, and I hope your story encourages others to embrace their authentic selves. Your strength and honesty are truly commendable. See you in the fog, friend.

I really appreciate you sharing your story.
Comming out was never a dramatic or difficult experience for me, since I was lucky enough to grow up in a very accepting and open minded family.
That's why it's sometimes easy to take my own experience for granted and forget that it's not the same for everyone.
Your story serves as a reminder of that, and why representation and a nurturing environment is so very important.
It's somewhat disheartening when I hear other members of the lgbtq+ community say that we don't need things such as Pride anyomore, because being gay/bi/trans isn't considered a big deal anymore here (in Sweden). I guess those people were lucky as well, but became oblivious to the fact that their experience isn't necessarily everyone elses.
But I digress… I'm happy that you found someone you cherish, and I wish you two the best of luck and a happy life together!

and then they announced a collab with fnaf, whose creator votes trump and donates to anti-lgbt causes as well as trump's campaign.
thanks for putting the L in LGBT.
9 -
It feels a bit weird to have this thread pinned now that they announced that.
10 -
Yep.
Absolutely grotesque hypocrisy for the sake of profit.Guess they think the 'B' stands for 'Betrayal' too.
4 -
It's not hypocrisy at all, just because they made a business deal with someone doesn't mean they support the persons view or opinions. If I buy the dlc that doesn't mean I support anti LGBT views, same goes for BHVR. they clearly haven't done or said anything negative to the LGBT community. If you don't want to play the dlc or have moral standings against it fine but to say hypocrisy is just flat out incorrect.

(1) If you are willing to collaborate with someone despite them actively funding hatred and harm towards marginalised people, you clearly consider that hatred and harm to be acceptable.
(2) If you are willing to financially support someone despite them actively funding hatred and harm towards marginalised people, you clearly consider that hatred and harm to be acceptable.BHVR has previously - repeatedly - stated and acted as though they care for the wellbeing of Queer people whom they've worked with, whom they employ, and who exist within and outwith their community.
Point 1 and Point 2 above contradict that professed support.
Claiming to support marginalised people, and then turning around and supporting harm against the same, does in fact constitute hypocrisy. And you finding nothing whatsoever wrong with supporting and funding anti-LGBTQ hate does in fact mean you support such beliefs and behaviours.
6 -
No, it's not necessarily support, but it is sending the message that they don't care enough either way for it to be a dealbreaker, either. When you make a large part of your corporate brand and values that you're an lgbt+ ally, you have certain standards you must uphold, and not collaborating with people who have actively harmed the lgbt+ community is usually pretty high on that list.
It's hypocritical, plain and simple. At least I know I've saved a tenner on this year's anniversary chapter.
9 -
my immediate gut reaction to that news was "they dont deserve to have that david king thread pinned any more". this thread, from members of the lgbt community, full of stories about hardships we've overcome and bonds we've made because of dbd, evolves a sinister twist when the company announces a collab with scott cawthon.
now i just feel exploited.

Thank you for sharing your story, and everyone who came through to share theirs as well. 🖤
