STOP MICHAEL MYERS REWORK; Rework Ghostface instead

I’d like to start by saying that the version of Michael Myers before the most recent rework truly captured the essence of his character. He embodied the slow, methodical, and terrifying presence that made him iconic in the Halloween films. The new rework, however, seems to diverge from that identity, adding a dash ability and increased speed that feels out of place for a character who is known for his emotionless, relentless walk rather than agility or sudden bursts of movement. It starts to feel less like Michael and more like a hybrid of Chucky or Pig, which takes away from the uniqueness he originally brought to the game.

With that in mind, instead of reworking Michael Myers, I believe attention would be better spent on reworking Ghostface to make his gameplay more dynamic and reflective of his movie counterpart. Across the Scream franchise, Ghostface is known not just for stealth but for his playful, manipulative, and taunting nature.

  • Phone Call Mechanic: Survivors could be given a phone. Ghostface could randomly choose one survivor to call. The phone would ring (possibly with an audio cue or on-screen prompt), and if the survivor doesn’t answer in time, Ghostface would receive their location. This would add tension and interaction and give Ghostface more personality.
  • Power Usage Limitations: To balance this, Ghostface could be slightly slower than average and have limited uses of this ability, perhaps once per generator completed, or after a specific condition is met.
  • More Frequent Moris: One of the most iconic parts of Ghostface is the cinematic, dramatic kills. Increasing his mori potential, perhaps tied to his ability or as part of a mini-objective, would be a great way to make playing as or against him more memorable and fun. His mori is just iconic.

Ghostface has huge potential to be one of the most fun and thematic killers in the roster, and a rework like this would really elevate his playstyle while staying true to his roots.

Yeah, but ghostface is not getting a game to compete with dbd so no one cares.

Except this isn't Scream's Ghostface, it's DBD's Ghost Face, and giving him a power that is akin to how Ghostface behave in Scream wouldn't fit Danny's character whatsoever.

Ghostface's current power perfectly reflects what kind of character DBD's version of Ghostface is and how he approaches and kills his victims. He's not supposed to be and do like the Ghostfaces in the Scream movies.

I love ghostface and think he needs buffs but currently I'd say myers is a pretty bland character outside of his stalking and thats not saying I don't love his stalking. Basically ghostface can crouch, lean, stalk, tactically choose who to expose and what does myers have? M2 to expose. I think myers is in needs a rework more than ghostface.

I have to admit... I do feel Myers was in a pretty good spot with his last set of changes... the only questionable thing left for him was the Tombstone Piece and buffing numbers once that add-on was given appropriate trade offs. I certainly wasn't expecting such a big rework.

The stance switching is interesting, I'd be interested in how he would play out with just that mechanic added... not so sold on the super lunge though, but I guess the question is, how do you make him more viable at higher levels of play?

What if the FunWorld Corporation TM killer could phone the survivors and ask them horror trivia, and if they don't get all 3 questions correct, they SHOUT really loudly and then die?

Danny's own lore in DBD itself has him hiding in cupboards/closets to stalk his victims. Would be fun if they allowed that ingame.

I was mainly focusing on the taunting and calling the Survivors via a phone parts, as those goes against how Danny works as Ghost Face when killing people.

Hiding in a locker would fit his character yes, although i'm not sure what benefit it would give him doing that, outside of stalking Survivors from it.

Oh, I agree about the phone thing - I was just mentioning that they do have some game mechanic potential in the actual DBD lore.

It may not be powerful, but it would be fun if he could enter a locker and get third person view - pop out on an unsuspecting survivor nearby. Then again, this would kind of be "campy" ie camping near a gen.

One idea I had before was to have him have an accomplice. With this, at the beginning of the match, 3 lockers are randomly marked. Upon entering a locker, ghostie can look at and active a marked locker. He then functionally teleports to that locker as the accomplice, removes that mark at the new locker (since it's now clear ie no killer inside it since he just left it), but the locker he came from now has a mark. This is him hopping into a locker and "activating" his accomplice. This can make it seem like he's in multiple places at once and could solve his biggest design flaw of having weak map presence and mobility. If a survivor interacts with a marked locker, they get a jumpscare skill check by the ghostie still hiding in that locker. If they succeed, they avoid the knife but get killer's instinct for a few seconds. If they fail, they are injured and get killer's instinct. If they are already injured, they are put into deep wounds and get killer's instinct.

Essentially, ghostie would be "two killers" but only controls one at a time. There's no functional difference between the "original" ghostie and the accomplice.

Came up with the idea prior to Dredge releasing, but considering how many killers they've been adding with "shared abilities", I'd welcome Ghostie having the ability to get around the map better.

TBH, I think if they just kept the unlimited stalk on all survivors and let Myers toggle between tier 1 & 2 it would be enough. The way his tier 3 functions is fine as is on live.
