Hawkins National Laboratory has some broken loops
Let me start by saying: welcome back Stranger Things, happy to have you back! I have played a bunch of matches tonight on Hawkins. My God, did I forgot how broken some of these loops were. You can really tell it is an old map design. There were multiple rooms with a very safe rectangular loop and two God pallets on each side. Am I calling for a nerf? No. That is not the intent of this post. Just wanted to share my sentiment and see if others felt the same way :).

Why on Earth was this map re-released before being rebalanced? This was one of the most miserable maps, with it's outdated broken loops, and it didn't get updated?

2 hours since release and people complain.
The DBD-Community. :)

If you read my post I explicitly said I am not complaining, but observing and wondering.

I mean, the Map is horrible for both sides. This was always the case.
I dont really understand how so many people could have the feeling of missing it. Especially because there were loads of complaints before it got removed.
(I dont like it, but it is better that the content is back in the game. So I see it positive)
9 -
Just played against some very well playing bots on there.
But yeah - good loops. The complaints will follow for sure.
I am just so happy ST is back.
I did not trust the leaks.

Bro shut up complaining and be happy for a ######### day.

This. Always was a terrible map.
5 -
So the honeymoon is over? That was fast. I think I got whiplash.
4 -
Still a killer sided map

Again, not complaining. Can this community actually read or do you only go off by the title? Sheesh.
1 -
Explain. Curious to hear your arguments :)

Back in the day it was one of the Maps with one of the highest Killrates. So I guess at some point we will see this again.
But IMO it is better that people now have access to Steve, Nancy, Demo and all their Cosmetics. Having to play on this Map is a small price to pay.
7 -
Hahaha. I never missed the map. I do like that it brings variety for sure. I also have to reorient myself on the map. I keep getting lost haha. I did miss the characters though. Happy Demo is back.

Always a great indoor map.
And good it is back as we don´t have enough indoor maps.
Yes, opinions differ.
I get that the high MMR competitive may not like it.
But as a more casual player i don´t care. Map looks cool and is a welcome diference from alle these outdoor spaces.

I started playing two years ago, so I never got to play it. I did hear it was kind of a mediocre map. I am looking forward to trying it out though.

I remember being so happy when it was removed. Not at all excited to play on it again, at least not in it's original form.
3 -
I don’t give a damn. I’m so happy to have ST back.
9 -
I don't care.
I loved the map so much.
I missed it so much.
Is it a balanced map? Not by a long shot.
Is it a blast from the past and ultra nostalgic? You bet it is!!!
6 -
And?
0 -
I don't think it's that deep. Although, ass map is ass. Hopefully the nostalgia hit can overcome the smell 🤢

Hawkins is definitely a good map for killers. That hasn't changed (not that anything changed on that map). However, some killers definitely benefit more from that than others. Doctor for example can be quite the menace. Hillbilly on the other hand is not all that amazing on it.
3 -
Of course people were going to complain instantly (not directed to you OP don’t have to repeat yourself).
from a casual PoV it’s great to have this map back. It’s only miserable against sweaty player - but which map isn’t to some degree?
3 -
No, it isn’t that deep. People forget this is a forum to share ideas.

Back in the day, whenever I thought "Hey, I want to play Billy", it was Hawkins 9/10 times. Random. Without any Offering or increased Odds.

Yikes. I didn't play Hillbilly back then, so I was mostly spared. But I distinctly remember a match as Bubba where I was busy breaking pallets all game on that map. Nowadays I could probably do better but back then it was pretty painful.
Also, if you have any pointers on how to use Billy's chainsaw on that map, I'd be grateful. I have found only 2 loops so far, that are fine to play around. It's the first time I feel unsure what to do. :-(

Seriously? Do you not remember the headache this map was?
If they rework it... sure. But as it was? No way. It was a terrible map.
Like I said game 2.0. With way less safe pallets.
2 -
These 2.
I don't give a single, I'm so happy I can finally play on it again.=3
More over... I can finally buy what was missing...

Kinda makes me wonder if old Skull Merchant would be stronger or weaker than Knight on Hawkins.

The person said “killer sided” map. I would like to know, why they say that. I would like to hear their experiences.
0 -
its killer sided, has been since they went in and reworked some loops several months before being deactivated.
4 -
I already got the two demo skins I was missing.
Im so happy.

hawkin is the type of map with infinity pallet loops where you can pre-drop and go in circles. if you tried to play any of the pallets, they were unsafe such that killer could easily hit you.
what made map killer sided is how claustrophobic the map was. because generator could spawn in rooms and in hallways, it was REALLY easy for survivor that are looping to run into each other on generators. when survivor would play the map, you would see most survivors work on that 2nd floor safe gen on far end while everyone else was experienced bloodbath in the center map. camping hook was deadly on hawkins. I usually start working on 3rd floor gen because it was risky gen that is difficult to complete as you would have ignore any TR notifications from bottom floor. if the killer goes up to 3rd floor then you would almost certainly take an opening hit and fall through the hole making your chase with killer way harder.

Honestly this map was/is more killer sided than anything. All the unsafe pallets and loops. Yeah there were a couple good, strong loops but that's all survivors really had. And then there's the fact that the map is like a whole maze, similar to old Lery's.
Regardless, Hawkins Return is very welcome along with the other Stranger Things characters.

I'm just so happy they didn't touch the stair collisions. That one room with 2 tanks, where one is open one is closed, with the yellow railing? I used to be able to do so many funky plays there and I still can and I'm so thankful.

this is the BHVR way
push now, fix later
2 -
I hated this map so much as was so happy when it went away. This is terrible, terrible news. Why are you doing this to us, BHVR?? Guess I'll be using map offerings for a while to increase the chances that I won't get sent to Hawkins...
2 -
I am explicitly complaining. This map is awful
1 -
Odd, I seem to remember frequently being brought there by killers any time they wanted an easy 4k or an adept achievement. They must have just wanted it to be extra challenging....
2 -
From what I remember, most pallets on that map were extremely unsafe.
3 -
They are. The map is loaded with unsafe pallets. Playing on it again reminded me of how bad most of them are.
4 -
I just had a survivor running there and I sprang on them.
In end game chat they asked how I knew.
0 -
The sad thing is that the devs knew about this yet chose to re-release it with zero changes.
0 -
Quick re-release. I'm sure they'll re work it. For now tho. Weeeeeeeee killers.
0 -
I always liked the map even back then. It's got some strong loops for survivors but pretty much all the pallets out in the corridors are terrible and can be played around easily by killers.
Also the drop-down hole allows for some fun memey plays.
0 -
I agree it's an unbalanced map, but on the complete end of the spectrum. 99% of the pallets on that map are ridiculously unsafe, with only a few metres of looping room on either side. The only correct way to play the map as survivor is pre drop and hold forward, which is crazy uninteractive and boring for both sides.
1 -
That's assuming the survivors aren't in a SWF, the survivors aren't running anything that can aura read nearby teammates, the survivors aren't just casually aware of which generators are being working on... and the survivors aren't just running away to hide when the visual terror radius happens. And that's assuming that If a repairing survivor hides while the chased survivor passes by a generator with progress, that the chased survivor doesn't have the common sense to take the chase far away. It's also assuming the killer isn't tunneling, because if the killer is tunneling then they might not care if they see someone else running away from a generator.
People should also remember the upper floor on this map is sometimes a boil over nightmare for killers, if there isn't a hook on the stairs. And the small upper floor in one of the side rooms (with the generator) can also be a boil over nightmare for killers.
And there are so many pallets, so survivors will just keep predropping them, and even if the pallets are unsafe, it's still not good for the killer to keep walking around the pallets.
And when a killer tries to walk a survivor to a hook, and the path to the hook passes by multiple pallets, and the killer wonders if they are supposed to just walk around every pallet along the path.
0 -
Most loops are the short L pallets at corners. Similar like inside main building of Nostromo, but worse
Killers can simply walks around it and hit survivor.
1 -
I am no expert on Billy and I did not play that map for such a long time.
But if I remember correctly, all the Pallets on the Outside (those which are close to the rooms, in the main Hallways, which are very unsafe) are a nightmare to play with the Chainsaw. You can get easy M1s, because the Pallets are unsafe, but hitting Chainsaw Hits is not easy, if I remember correctly.
The rooms itself should work better for that.
But back in the day I had trouble with this Map, it is an indoor Map (mobility is difficult) and the short Loops are quite awkward to play with the Chainsaw.

Except the l loop chains into a room that also has a pallet or another one makeing a semi infinit
