Matchmaking System Update
Since the release of the 10.1.0 update, which introduced our new MMR system, we've been closely monitoring matchmaking data and player feedback. Many of you have reported matches feeling unbalanced, with players of widely varying skill levels and playtimes being matched together.
The launch of the new MMR system required a global reset to all players' ratings, after which we expected players to quickly settle into ratings that reflected their skill level. Unfortunately, as our players have highlighted, that didn't happen as intended. After investigating, we identified a matchmaking parameter that was unintentionally broadening the range of potential opponents and teammates.
Adjusting Streak Weighting
This parameter relates to win and loss streaks. Originally, consecutive wins or losses would expand a player's matchmaking range, putting them into matches where the amplified impact on MMR would help them reach their appropriate rating more quickly. However, the configuration we used led to an overexaggerated increase in rating variance and a skill mix in matches that was wider than intended. We adjusted this parameter late last week to lower the weight that win and lose streaks have on MMR.
Early results are promising, showing less variance in player skill levels and an improvement in line with our expectations. We'll continue to monitor and validate matchmaking performance throughout the weeks ahead and encourage you to share your experiences here to support our ongoing investigation.
A Reminder on the MMR Reset
It's important to note that some players are still calibrating after the global reset in August. For example, if you haven't played as The Unknown since, your rating is not accurately set to reflect your skill level when playing as that Killer. Your first few matches with The Unknown are likely to feel unbalanced, but you should settle into your natural range. This is the case for each Killer as you progress through the roster.
Looking Forward
This change isn't a silver bullet, but it's an important first step of many toward the matchmaking experience we're working to achieve. The team is actively monitoring how this fix impacts matchmaking over time and is committed to making further adjustments as we investigate longer-term improvements to the system.
We appreciate your patience, and most of all, we appreciate your feedback! It was integral to identify last week's fix. Thank you for being on this journey with us, and we'll keep you informed as our matchmaking system continues to evolve.

If winning or losing a lot of times should broaden the matchmaking range, this does not sound like something which was "unintentionally broadening the range of potential opponents and teammates". More like something which worked as intended, but you did not realize that this would also imply that a player who wins a lot of times and is very good will get weaker and weaker opponents, the more they win. Which is basically what was the issue with the MMR Reset, we have seen Streamers go on insane winstreaks, because they faced brand new Survivors.
But hopefully this is now fixed, but to be fair, you dont need to be a game Dev to see that widening the range of potential opponents will lead to errors, even if I completely understand the intention that someone winning a lot should get more stronger opponents and someone losing a lot should get a lot weaker opponents, but both can work in the other range as well, if there is no limit. Which happened.
Will monitor if it got better. A few days ago my SWF mate and myself got a Wraith with only a fraction of our hours followed by KnightLight, a comp player. Which was pretty odd, maybe it is better now.
Sadly there will be no appropiate place to give more feedback anymore if the Matchmaking is working or not.

To be honest I kinda liked the chaotic, wild west match-making of the first week of MMR reset. But then we went straight into 2V8, so I've not touched 1V4 since. Anyway, I think it made the games feel a bit closer to event match-making to me. That said, I might be in a minority for preferring it that way and I can see such a system being a frustration to the more competitive players out there. I'd personally take no match-making at all over a system that you guys say is in place but barely seems to work at all.
Now that 2V8 is over, I'll guess I'll have to play some games over the next week or so to see what feels different.
1 -
Definitely do let us know if you notice any changes (or heck, if you don't notice a change, as that's equally valuable) in matchmaking. We're keeping a close eye on this so we can keep the team working on it informed.
As for the note about sharing feedback, I totally get the frustration about the Forums closing. While the forums have always been an important piece of the collecting feedback puzzle (and speaking personally, they were first place I got to know the DbD community!), we take feedback from across the other DbD channels just as seriously.
I'd love to know, though, what would your ideal method of sharing feedback look like? We're always open to rethinking and adjusting how we go about thinks like gathering feedback, so I'm always down to hear!
1 -
I can't speak for Aven but I think my ideal method of sharing feedback would be a more direct form of communication without restricting character limits that allows for long-form feedback, in an environment where members use the platform specifically to discuss the state of the game. You know, like a forum of sorts.
22 -
Having less variance in player skills levels overall sounds better in theory, but with how often this MMR system was complained about, whether or not this is actually the case remains to be seen.
Well, we will see it now that 2v8 is over and we are returning to the regular queue, at least until the Halloween event I presume.
Might be the last matter that we will be able to properly give feedback about, considering soon there won't be a good way of doing so.
6 -
This MMR reset felt like it wasnt progressing at all before I dropped 1v4 for 2v8, and I had played at least 100 matches in each role. How long is it supposed to take?
I also don't feel like there's much of a point giving feedback anymore. Am I going to drop my opinion on MMR in a Discord channel where it gets immediately buried by cat pictures and memes?
8 -
Out of interest, have you played 1v4 since the weekend? I'd be interested to know if you're noticing any difference in the quality of your matchmaking compared to your time pre-2v8. Given the number of matches you've played, I would expect you should be encountering matches that more closely reflect your skill level by now.
And I totally hear your concerns about feedback on Discord. While I know it's not the same, over the coming weeks, we will be opening a Discord channel that's more in line with a forum experience because we want to make sure long-form conversations have an organized space.
3 -
I haven't. I will be back to play killer tonight but with the way things are changing now and in the near future I don't intend to play any solo survivor moving forward, so I won't have anything to say about that matching.
9 -
I'm not trying to be rude here. Have you ever actually participated in a Discord server that uses the threads in an attempt to have longer conversations? It really is no where near close to the format of forums and really is not a good replacement. It is still Discord format that is unappealing and overall still not good for discussions, especially when coming from using forums.
Just simply following a conversation here when someone quotes someone else I can see the entire previous text. On Discord if someone is responding directly to someone else I can only see part of the previous persons first sentence. I need to click on that little preview to be pulled up to where ever that comment was made and then scroll all the way back down to where I was in the conversation. It is much easier/user friendly on the forums to catch up and keep track of the conversation. That is just one issue and it's an issue on small servers, it'll be worse on a large server with 800k members. Discord format is great if you want a chatroom, it's terrible if you are looking for forum type discussions.
I just think maybe it would've been a better plan to have this proposed section of Discord up and running first because right now I think you're throwing out a great resource (forums) for something you think looks good on paper (discord "forum"). At the very least if you had something currently usable you could let people try it and give feedback here instead of "use it or sucks for you" that we currently have going for us.
18 -
Yeah I love cats but posting feedback and them being in the same area doesnt really work lol. Same with reddit with all the memes. So many memes.
12 -
I won several games as survivor and yet I got matched against Blight 24/7 with full slowdowns and double speed, which well is what people at high ranks play. But how come I'm in team with people who have 20hrs and do adepts? I don't get it. I have escape rate of about 52 % but those are mostly luck on my side.
4 -
Out of how many matchs though? And how much of your ER is altered by abandoning?
4 -
I'd love to know, though, what wouldyourideal method of sharing feedback look like? We're always open to rethinking and adjusting how we go about thinks like gathering feedback, so I'm always down to hear!Ideal method? Probably something where people could make long form posts and reply to each other. It would help if recent comments where bumped to the top. Maybe even a little thumbs up system for people to express agreement instead of commenting. I think having different sub categories would also be helpful to focus discussions around things like the PTB. Different forums if you will. Oh, and if it had BHVR Official on it, that would make it much clearer.
Sorry, I know that's snarky and this isn't your decision, but those of us who like the forums like them because of exactly what they offer. You're saying feedback, we're saying discussions. For things like the matchmaking problems, anything would probably work to express frustration, but there's a lot more possibilities in a game like DbD. If something new comes out and some players like it and some players don't, sure BHVR might want to know 70% like/30% dislike, but it helps for the players to actually discuss what they like or dislike which makes it clearer what, if anything, needs to be addressed.
Discord that seems impossible. Reddit and Steam, which ones? I don't expect those to be official or have any anticipation that BHVR is looking at them and need to find the right ones.
Steam is probably the closest to these forums and once its open its clear to the user that BHVR has people there. Maybe I'm just attached to this design, but it looks like a step backwards (also strange for the many people not on Steam to use the Steam forums).
18 -
400 matches total. Escape rate 52 %, abandons don't count. Even after that the matches are nowhere near consistent, neither were before update. I mean, once 2v8 ends I'll hop back onto killer.
-2 -
400 survivor matches in the last month?
Abandons remove the match from your stat history, and since they basically always happen when you're about to die they inflate your visible ER becuase you're deleting many of your failures. Your real number is probably more like 40-45 if you're abandoning.
6 -
Yeah, I played mostly survivor in last month due to insanely long queues. Makes sense. In the end the next update will be probably me not playing solo survivor anymore due to all the misunderstanding from BHVR. From nerf to Dissolution, STB, Windows to weird rework to Road Life which will in BHVR last fashion heavily impact high levels and swf while will be very weak if useable in low mmr. But their anti solo q anti begginer updates are kinda forcing me to not enjoy the killer either as much as I used to because the matches become somewhat boring. The same 4 perks on survivors and it will remain because all the meta shakeup for survivors were healing and begginer friendly perks which is pretty boring and won't make game not feel stale.
3 -
I won't be playing solo either, because of the survivor nerfs. Killer is probably going to get too easy, and the wait times are going to be long because of that. Add in the MMR reset making things even weirder and the game is in an unappealing spot right now in all ways. I would have rather just stayed in 2v8 where the chaos lacks the competiveness.
12 -
Others have said it already, but it's a bit silly to ask us what our ideal method for leaving feedback is...right before most of us lose our ideal method for leaving feedback.
After the Forums go down I probably just won't be leaving feedback. I don't use Social Media aside from YouTube and as much as I love this game you cannot make me use Reddit or Twitter, and Discord just never really clicked with me and the way I peruse the internet. Unless you're checking the bottom barrel of random DBD influencers comments (please don't be doing that), you won't be hearing my thoughts.
Essentially, BHVR has killed my outlet for expressing my love for this game, and that's heartbreaking.
I've read these forums for 6 years, over a quarter of my life. I've followed this game since 2016, half of my life. Sunken hundreds of dollars into this game, and probably wrote over a hundred thousand words of feedback over the years, and a closed, wiped forum is how BHVR commemorated 10 years of DBD.
Am I being dramatic? Yes. Am I ever going to forget this? No.

@ThatRyanB
After investigating, we identified a matchmaking parameter that was unintentionally broadening the range of potential opponents and teammates. Was this also resolved with lobby dodging? where back fill takes priority over filling slot with correct skill level.
play alot, too much honestly but I think the MMR system is trying to work and do a good job, one of the biggest pain points still tho is that people can lobby shop around leading to these unbalanced matches once someones dodges.
Is there any plans for team to address chronic lobby shoppers? The matchmaking system can be flawless but if the system still works as "back-filling takes priority" needs to be strict backfill, and if people are still dodging too much dodging should be made not possible or penalties like going next mid match gives you.7 -
I wonder if the the rate that MMR changes is overtuned.
I won 2 games in a row, the second being an Iridescent Devout Emblem because Wraith couldn't catch me (the rest of the team died) and all of a sudden I am going up against godly Nurses, Spirits and sweatlord killers when all I want to do is progress my challenges. And maybe have a bit of fun but I guess I am asking for too much.
1 -
The mmr is still broken. Wdym i have 2 good matches as the pig then it pairs me with people who are overly coordinate and have over 10k hours. I barely even had an hook the whole match. I just want to have some fun. Not to sweat or stay overly stressed every match to have at least 1k. Im not saying to be paired with baby survivors, but i want an match where i can take a normal chase and to not lose 2 gens in 30 sec. The old mmr wasnt the best, but wasnt like this neither.
2 -
That's kind of my issue with the game atm. If I don't take newbies teammates into account, I keep versing Blights and Ghouls with corrupt, pan res, pop and eruption like 95 % of the game. Feels like comp tournament even when I play killer I get coordinated teams playing very well even if I play killers I play once in a year.
2 -
I'd love to know, though, what would
yourideal method of sharing feedback look like? We're always open to rethinking and adjusting how we go about thinks like gathering feedback, so I'm always down to hear!I think the Forums are the ideal way of giving feedback. They provide good overview and you can have a lot of different topics right next to each other without any conflict. The other options:
- Steam Forums —> Well, they exclude a huge part of the community. Also they are kinda dead. And honestly, if I would want to use the Steam Forums, I would have done it already, since I am on Steam.
- Reddit —> Probably the closest to the current Forums, but I dont really feel it. I feel the Reddit Community is pretty different from the Forum Community and there are far more extreme opinions compared to the Forums. Sure, you have people here who never touched the other side, but I feel that this is way more common on Reddit.
- Discord —> Is just not a tool for discussions. You write something and when you send it, it is gone in seconds. I am on a few Discord Servers and even those with 10 or less people get annoying when it comes to following things, if a lot of people write. With the DBD Discord, it will just be even more. You will have people discuss on different topics in the same place, this is not really something where you can actually talk about game-related things.
- Twitter —> Probably the worst. Character limit and extremely weird community. If you want to write feedback, you will need several posts and you are in between "Add X to DBD!" and "I play as Perkless Trapper and lost, buff all Killers" or "Bring back Old DS!"…
I mean, it is not your decision to close the Forums, but I think it is really bad that the OFFICIAL Forums are closing down and I dont really see the point of it. Sure, there are less people here, but as I said in another post, this is also due to the Warning and Ban System.
Maybe others will look at Reddit or Discord to provide feedback, but all those options are not for me.
17 -
For the folks who have taken the time to give me your candid thoughts on what really matters to you about sharing feedback (even though I know my question was a little off-topic - sorry!), seriously, thank you so much! There's no one-size-fits-all solution that works for everyone, but this helps us make sure we're focusing our attention in the right place when we're looking at what we can do to support folks moving forward.
3 -
I can absolutely take note of this for the team! Out of interest, did you continue to run into matches that felt lopsided after this one, or did it feel like a one-off before swinging back to matches that felt more in-line with your own experience?
0 -
Even after many loses in a row i keep continue to run into same type of matches. Based on my experience i keep continue to bump into more skilled players even after i lose. Is like my mmr doesent change at all. And this happens on every killer i want to play, a match or 2 is normal. Then i bump into those type of squads.
1 -
Very much noted! Now, one more question to help get a read on the situation - when you say you're switching to another Killer, is this a Killer you've played quite a few matches with since last month's MMR reset, or is this a Killer you haven't played since the reset?
1 -
Interesting! I've been running into much longer loss streaks the past few days. After losing 5 games in a row I would hope my mmr would adjust to put me into a game where I have a fighting chance. I just assumed I blow at DBD, but this thread makes me consider if it isn't all me being horrible because if the game does have mmr it should adjust it to put me with similar-skilled people after realizing I can barely ever win at a certain level right..
2 -
Sorry, i couldnt respond earlier. If i switch to a killer i havent played in a while, like i played it before the mmr reset the first and 2nd match are normal, but after that it happens what i said before. If its a killer i played during the new mmr it pairs me with players who are over coordinate and basically destroy me in every aspect, and the mmr in both cases doesnt seem to change because even after a losing streak of many matches it still pairs me with godlike players.
-1 -
.
0 -
Same to me. I have a huge losing streak and i still run into same type of players. At first i tought its normal and the mmr will adjust. But it doesent seem that way. I barely have 1k, wich i even struggle to get it, and even a small chase for me feels like a gamble. Im not a super skilled player, i play casual. But it stopped being casual when i lose 2 or 3 gens after an 30 second chase. And i drop chases often and somehow they still repair them. Last night i basically hooked someone and 2 gens popped one after another.
-1 -
Yeah, but where would we find one of THOSE things?
10 -
I have mixed feelings about the MMR update.
While some matches do feel fine, others has been extremely one-sided, like to a ridiculous degree.
It's like you go from facing off against Momo on his long Blight streaks, to coming up against poor "Billygoat_57"* who just installed the game.
Same goes the other way, when you play killer, you can go from facing a team of brand new players, to facing Team Eternal. There's like no middleground at times. In my humble opinion, the matchmaking needs to be fairly tight, like it used to be, long before MMR / SBMM was conceived for DBD. Going back to how it used to be like in 2019, where you were normally paired with and against people of your (at the time) rank.
SoloQ should prioritize matching you with fairly equal players for most (if not all) of the time, and SWF's can allow a slightly looser bracket (with a bias towards the highest rated player).- generic nickname used for illustrative purposes only.
5 -
So far basing the MMR on anything but kills and escapes has been as awful as I predicted.
So much fun to encounter tunneling A/S tier killers over and over and die but then gain MMR because I did well enough in chase or on gens to ensure I encounter another one next game.
Equally fun to play an 8 hook, 0 kill game and get even harder survivors next time.
4 -
Also the transparency we had back then to see if we were being matched correctly or if time was being prioritized resulting in the match feeling off was so nice. At the end you could see the ranks and when they were mismatched rainbow ranks could go "that makes way more sense that match felt so bad."
8 -
People will never accept that the quality for solo q is miserable, queue times will remain terrible (maybe even get worse). You can look at your own fabricated "stats" and ignore the facts just because you dont like them, thinking "look, we have new players," while completely disregarding the veterans and the people who play your game every day (supported you while this game wasnt popular, but at the end of the day those players most of them will leave , and the casuals will vanish the moment the game becomes uninteresting or another game comes out…
There are only two ways to fix this:
- Ranked and Casual modes (give the "sweats" a reason not to streaks against bad-casual players, in Casual mode you could implement anti-camping and anti-tunneling mechanics whatever you want).
- Balancing: You have to accept that SWF is broken; get rid of 2- or 3-player SWF groups and only allow 4-player SWF to make balancing the game easier, also limit SWF groups so each survivor can only bring one perk (instead of nerfing a perk for everyone just because SWF players are abusing it, example: Awakened Awareness on Nurse)
fun fact: Blight, Nurse, and Spirit were nerfed countless times (bc few % players can play them, bhvrs "stats" said they are weak buff them). i mean so many other things have been nerfed also because of SWF (maps bc sabo, perks, healing etc) but still they never got touched, But at the end of the day, I dont care; BHVR can just keep doing what they are doing i dont play this game most of the time anymore xD. nerf a perk for solo players and make it SWF only, just like so many other perks and things (nerf solos, buff SWF tech)
-6 -
My recent survivor games have felt like the killer is at my skill level (very average), but the problem is that they are using the strongest perks, builds and killers in the game, tunnel out as fast as possible and will do absolutely anything to win. Out of 20 games I escaped maybe once because the team actually won, another 2 or 3 because the killer let us go, and then a couple of times the hatch at like 4 or 5 gens (because I had to escape for some Tomes challenges).
I try to help the newer players but they just don't stand a chance.
8 -
Honestly for me it feels like the killers are below my skill level, but because they are doing exactly what you said (running A/S tier killers, full meta builds with triple or quadruple slowdown, the strongest possible addons, in addition to tunneling someone out, camping, etc) they are still winning games. Despite me feeling like I was a better player than most of the killers I was facing, if the killer was just running the sweatiest possible stuff and found someone to tunnel or proxi camp, they win anyway. Really shows how flawed the balance is, because if these players didn't have the strongest possible loadouts or didn't employ the lowest effort yet most efficient "tactics" to win then they would be losing all of these games.
5 -
No offense but why even make this post if you're just going to be deleting all this feedback anyways.
It feels like intentionally trolling the community for no reason.11 -
sounds like your games are more or less balanced for you then. regardless of 24/7 blights
0 -
OK so, I've played 1v4 more and the script did quite a flip. I somehow went from stomping babies with both roles to the sweatiest matches ever.
My recent survivor experience of 40+ matches is the worst I've ever had. I don't usually go for the narrative that every match has tunneling and whatnot but every single survivor match has had some combo of hard tunneling, camping, and egerious slugging. Every. Single. One. I've been bled out, I've been camped into second multiple times and then tunneled. I'm getting the same killer players repeatedly in a session and almost ever killer is VPNing with 100+ ping. It's all A and S tier running meta. I've never experienced anything this consistently awful in this game. I can deal with this stuff here and there but every match is just horrible. I'm not good enough at this game for this.
I've only played 10 killer matches and though it was a 75% KR for the session, I had to tryhard unpleasantly to achieve that. Getting hit with StB three times in 10 games isn't the norm for me. It didn't help that I got my two most unfavorable maps for my main. I will have to see how it goes but so far it's better than survivor but I feel like it's gonna get worse.
Because my stats are alway above goal I suppose this is where I belong? But God, I hate it here. I feel like I skipped the whole 60% of mid players and went from the playground to the collusuem.
9 -
I'm curious to know how many matches we need to play before we should expect to find our level? 10? 20? 100?
I've only played 7 Killer games so far, which I'm sure is not nearly enough, but I can at least give some initial impressions as a more occasional player.
I played 4 Trials with my main Legion (I won 1 but the first 3 were a 3-4 out), 1 Chucky (4 out), 1 Billy (3 out) and finally 1 Trapper match (a pretty easy 4K on RPD). None of my opponents were "baby" survivors. I'd describe them as experienced but pretty average, yet still efficient enough to get the gens done before I was able to get 2 or 3 hooks. Admittedly, I'm still shaking off the rust of a month of not playing any Killer games, but I would have expected much easier Trials for at least a little while until I climbed back up to where I was. Instead, I actually felt like despite there being a "reset", most of my matches were a lot harder than before. It didn't feel like a reset at all to me.
My concern is that including emblems back into the match-making might make for tougher games if you still score quite well. A lot of people pointed out that this might happen. With some Killers (like Legion), you can still do quite well with your emblems even when you don't get any kills:
On the other hand, an Oni that Slugs everyone in the first 5 minutes and wins quickly might not score as highly. Kills kind of do equal skills in some respects and I think (for Killer at least), Kills should be weighted more importantly to the ranking system than your emblem scores.
Anyway, my initial impressions so far are that my Survivor games have been a slightly better experience but broadly the same (with more active teammates making the biggest difference). While my Killer games on the other hand seem much more difficult. The system currently rates me as better at the role than I clearly am. I hope to play more matches over the weekend to see if my loses put me into more suitable lobbies.
As for Survivor, I currently have an escape rate above 50% so the system is clearly still trying to place me (It should not be this high. Previously it was 35%, which is where I'd also expect it to settle under the new system. I didn't suddenly become good at the game).
7 -
I've been saying this for years.
"Well they all might have gotten out, but at least I got 8 hooks" -said nobody ever.
Nobody cares about their invisible MMR. People just want kills. There's been no reason MMR-wise to slug for the 4k outside of adepts yet people still do it because they want the 4k.
Nobody, not a single person, wants harder games after getting 1-0 kills just because they got a bunch of emblems.
The survivor side of this is somewhat more understandable as theoretically you should get better allies at higher MMR in a system that factors in things like chase time and gen efficiency when calculating MMR. Theoretically. In practice for me at least, it has just lead to marginally better allies against WAY HARDER killers. I haven't escaped more than 1 game since this new MMR update rolled out, other than killers having early ragequits. Now sure, in some of those games, I die so my allies can escape, and that feels good… but I'd like to escape once in a while too, you know.

I think it’s pretty clear that most people here feel that this forum is the best channel for sharing feedback. That’s why we’re all here and not on other platforms, after all. As others have stated, Discord is a disorganized mess of random slop and Steam excludes a large portion of the player base. Reddit is the closest alternative, but people have listed many reasons why Reddit is a worse option than this forum. I realize that BHVR are likely not going to rethink their decision to shut this place down, but it makes no sense to do when a forum like this can be maintained at very little cost and keeps the game’s most dedicated players actively engaged. To all of us here, the fact that this forum is being shut down makes us feel like BHVR doesn’t want to have a forum-style platform for sharing and discussing feedback.
If there is a true alternative with this type of format, I’m happy to move there, but none of the proposed options are close to what this place offers. That’s why you are seeing so many people upset about the decision to shut the forum down.9 -
I am a person that says "Well they all might have gotten out, but at least I got 8 hooks." Especially during Bloodmoon and Anniversaries where I want them (and them to get) fat bloodpoints (but I don't farm, I generally start sacrificing after I get 8 hooks). And I prefer to give the Entity sporting matches.
But I agree with you that killers shouldn't gain MMR from matches where they don't get kills, because soon enough I won't be able to get my 8 hooks and then what?
5 -
you did the same garbage "mMr" what was before the "chaos MM" fail of you guys, but np, i will just DC, refuse to play until you guys have enough kill rate abusing solo q for it, changing map changes for it and and… do it and ask how to punish ppl more, they leaving this game and ask them straight up "why you leaving DBD?". you just did one thing at always minimal effort try to have big reward: just let those who do streaks "we acutally dont care, but its a bad looking for us thats why we need to change it + " get better opponents, other players will still have same bad matchmaking bc god forbid poor bad killers who has an heart attack while playing dbd and not making ez 4k. np most times i dont play dbd but if i do after patches i will help you guys! xD
-4 -
Not gonna lie, the "new" MMR is much worse than the previous one. To the point where I'm playing less and less, and I'm honestly considering just dropping it because I'm no longer having fun on either side due to my main Killer being Nemesis (a mid Killer in terms of sheer strength lets be honest, he's not bottom-tier by any means but he's not the kind of Killer that can compete against good squads while having actual fun) and not really playing into the meta perks all the time as Survivors.
I'm the kind of player that really didn't care about winning as Killer, in fact it was the contrary, I would go for 8 hooks before either turning friendly/farming or help Survivors get some unreasonably difficult achievements. Sometimes, either against a bully quad or toxic/sandbagging Survivors, I would play seriously and get kills, but I usually had fun by not having to play like my life depended on it and making the game less miserable for other people. I'm not bad at the game, but I'm not a pro player either.
Now, a few weeks after the "new" MMR and still playing for 8 hooks games, all I get are navy seals squads as Killer. As Nemesis, or any Killer that isn't among the stronger/faster ones, I literally do not have the map presence and lethality to commit to chases against people that play like they are in a scrim and not pubs. By the end of the game I usually have 5-6 hooks and 0k because I do my best to not tunnel, and there's no fun to be had, if I try to not sweat then the games are over in a matter of less than 10 minutes.
As Survivor, I'm usually the support and/or gen-doer of the group even in SoloQ. I'm decent at chase but not perfect either even if I had some coaching from a couple pro players over the years, so unless I get tunneled out early then I usually end up with very high or maxed Objective and Altruism scores even if I die late-game. Now, after a few weeks, I don't think I've ever faced so many Blights, Billy and Ghouls in terms of frequency (not a lot of Nurses due to sheer skill floor I assume) that play like their life is on the line. Almost all of my Survivors games is one of them, and unfortunately, when it's not one of them, then it's either a complete humiliation (sometimes DC) for them or they get 1 or 2 kills through hard-tunneling while the others go almost untouched. It's just not fun even when I do escape.
I'm happy to see that I'm apparently not the only one thinking this and going through a similar experience. Really, the intention was good, but the new MMR is just so much worse for average players that aren't interested in feeling like they are in scrims almost every game. Ironically, the previous MMR was much better, it wasn't perfect of course, but it was better than what we have now.

remember: they talked 2025 in the "quality of life xD" post about alot things coming (which they like and want to bring it into the game, if they talk about mmr they talk about "how can we have more control over it") also mMr uPdAtE, end of 2025 should it come, they make it to march 2026, then they have being silent why? bc proHVR is cooking here trust me bro xD months over months nothing, then it is here, ehmm well i think you know how miserabley they faild "we doesnt want tryharding, we want everyone against everyone" yeah no, after few weeks they change it to old mMr (still miserable games, still frustration, still unfun, DCs, rage quit etc) 1,5 years later to releasing it (remember before they work also on it) what we got? still trash matchmaking, still hidden (you still can not see your rank). just "look those emblems are your ranks, just trust me bro, ok we failed horribley wasted time, you guys are frustrated and angry? but hey look behind you are SKINS go and buy them!"…
look i dont have a problem if you want Casual game, but then remove the dame trash mechanics of competetiv balancing. MMR, DC penalety, 5 blink nurse, old Moris, DH, etc. or just do what you do always, competetive elements but force them to play Casual, say you dont wanne tryhard while you are the one who force a fake "kill rate" to the game, if its fit into your viewe "look to the stats" if you dont like it, just ingore the facts, if someone shows the hypocrital, double standard behavior, be angry and just ban ppl right and left… that is just a piece of a mountain of bs xD

Because we don't know our MMR, it's impossible to tell what the hell is happening.
Am I getting paired with equal skill?
Is the Que overriding accurate matchmaking?
Who the hell knows?

I swear I'm not this bad… I got games where people are getting 10k and I'm at 27k…. This is like my 50th game and its not getting any better. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be hiding in lockers for most of the game like my team mates while I run the killer till bloodlust gives them the down? Please just bring back the old MMR…. This is making me want to quit cause no role is fun anymore with it…
