I only bring items in KYF and I almost always have the Ace In The Hole perk equipped when I am in a normal trial. I find it fun to have a little gamble while in game. Also, you forgot about maps.

It usually does not last over a minute once activated and it can be disabled beforehand so I would say it is fairly balanced. To be honest, I don't understand why people get so agitated if the perk is used... Some killers have the ability to instantly down survivors with their ability or add ons anyways.

I don't play the plague often so I wouldn't really know if she is exactly boring, but from my understanding of her she seems like a decent killer and maybe even better than Myers even if she doesn't use her Corrupt Purge or whatever its called. :p

In the past 3-4 games I have not seen a survivor use a perk other than Unbreakable, Sprint Burst, BT, DS, Dead Hard, Adrenaline, Iron Will, Self Care, and Prove Thy Self. Its kinda ridiculous.
