I own a digital copy of the game for my PS4. Can I upgrade for free?
Yes, in most regions. For legal reasons, you will need to pay a small fee to upgrade your copy.
I purchased the Disc version of the base game for my PS4. Will I be able to upgrade?
So long as your PS5 has a disc drive, you should be able to upgrade

How do I claim my free upgrade on PS5?
This is easy!
To upgrade an eligible digital PS4 game you already own to the digital PS5 version:
- Sign in to your existing account on your PS5 console.
- Find the PS5 game in PlayStation Store, or by Search, and go to the game hub for the PS5 game.
- Select the upgrade offer on the game hub and review the upgrade offer.
- Select Download (or purchase with the discount price) to download/purchase content.
- After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 game.

Stranger Things Chapter PS4 - PS5 Upgrade Disabled
Due to licencing agreements and local regulations requiring a paid upgrade, we are not able to offer the PS5 upgrade of the Stranger Things Chapter to PS4 users in Germany and Japan.
Players who own the PS4 Stranger Things Chapter will still be able to play with the content on their PS5, using the account that owns the product. However, players will not be able to 'import' ownership on a PS5 console through upgrading or family-sharing this content with other users on the same device.
For users who have purchased the physical Nightmare Edition of the game, you may be eligible for a voucher to claim the content of the Nightmare Edition on PS5 by reaching out to our Support Team for a free voucher which you can use to reclaim the content of the Nightmare Edition on PS5. *THIS HAS NOW ENDED*
Vouchers will be valid until March 1st 2022 - so make sure to redeem them before then!
Will my trophies be transferred?
Due to technical limitations, we are unfortunately unable to transfer your trophies at this time.

I'm moving to Next Gen! Will I still be able to play with people on the other platforms?
Yes! This should not have any impact on cross-play and cross-friends.
