Chases are being weird

Why do survivors insist on blinding at a pallet?
It just doesn't work, unless you're going against a bad killer. Especially when you're injured. I have seen otherwise very good survivors go down simply because they insist on blinding at pallets. Survivor Icon not updating.
I'm on PC. Against a Freddy, on RPD. There was a Meg who despite DCING at the very beginning of the game, I think when they saw the map (I wonder why.) but the icon never updated. It showed Meg as alive during the entire game, and I didn't realize she DC'ed until I was on the exit screen.

Really makes me wish we could have more aura colors for perks. Imagine if your Eruption gens were tagged in purple instead of white? Or if you used Repressed Alliance?
