I don't think I've ever seen hard tunneling like you're talking about recommended as the optimal way to play. I've always seen doing so as a bit of a last resort, due to how a ds/bt can stack up wasted time

I think it's mostly just a luck thing but there is a difference between the loot rarities a prestige character gets and the loot a non-prestige gets. It's a small a difference but it could add up I suppose

I believe this is the gen bomb highlighting it. The bomb stays on even after the gen finishes

because people want to play the game. Some survivors do actually play survivor because they like the gameplay

They have the option to die when they want via not struggling or not being under a pallet with power struggle. They are trying to survive and you are doing the only thing you can to stop that. Don't feel bad
